VT plan

Sun Jan 06, 2013 10:52 am

Been giving some thought on where we are heading after re branding and the following are just my opinions:

1. Rebranding - Think fair to say most controversial of VT's changes but the recent appointment of international commercial legal expert may be a clue. If we reach the promised land then eventually we will be subject to FFP so income will be key. It is obvious that there is a huge market in the far east which VT is a key mover, plus his links in China could open a huge new market place for us. We have to accept that the current income is no where near enough as the increased debt highlights.

2. Stadium - I think 35,000 will be a suitable capacity to start. I can also see increased investment in hospitality and hotels for visiting fans, Carl highlighted some small steps already taken with Middlesborough this year with match and hotel packages offered to visiting fans. If money can be made on accommodation why not the club hoover up this income.?

3. Longterm - this is crystal ball gazing and we have all seen the Pompeys, B,ham situations with foreign investment HOWEVER VT is a successful business mogul and internationally known. The ownership of a premier league side is a major coup for wealthy businessmen and i genuinely believe he is in for longterm perhaps with other backers. When you look at our overall debt to other premier league clubs, then look at possible premier league money, income from far east and sponsorship then i think we really are in a good place.

These are my wishful thoughts and accept may be completely wrong and all goes belly up, but lets hope not.

FFP is a load of nonsense. Many clubs are getting around it already.

Man City have got a £400m stadium deal with Etihad to work around it.

What is stopping Tan putting in £100m of his own money and saying its as a shirt sponsorship deal? i.e. Malaysia on our front.

Nothing. Financial Fair Play hurts the clubs with not so rich owners only whereas the rich owners just use loopholes.
