Shrewsbury 3-1 Swansea City...

Sun Jan 06, 2013 10:38 am

...it just happens sometimes, I was there that night and it was dismal, plus we had a half decent side out.

Every now and then the cups throw up a surprise result, that's why we love the cup competitions isn't it? Like when you beat Leeds? Or we knocked West Ham out?

For those who can remember, how good was it to draw a decent team in the cup when we were both languishing in the lower leagues? It was something to look forward to, the chance that we might just pull off that shock result, the chance that we might be the ones on Match of the Day that night...

And yet I'm posting this before I head off to the Liberty to watch us play Arsenal, 10 years ago, the place would be buzzing about a match like this, instead, it's comments like "we'll probably rest players for the Chelsea match!"... What?

Sorry, off on a tangent there, but just remember, that result at Shrewsbury didn't do much harm in the long run, it just meant that Rodgers had a better idea of which players he could rely on. For me, I can look back on beating West Ham, or drawing with Liverpool at the Vetch, you lot can look back at the times like the Leeds match and others, remember those days? Because that's exactly how Macclesfield probably feel right now.

2hrs and 40mins before kick off? From mumbles? I could swim across Swansea bay and up the tawe in less time!

Maybe he's got friends and wants to meet up with them for a pint or ten.

I was there yesterday and a couple of city fans were upset that we didn't field a better team and win the game, but the majority, including myself, didn't give a f**k.

The thing is scotsjack realises his team are currently doing better than us. Therefore there is no reason to take the pee because the league pyramid speaks for itself. He can appreciate that.

there is every reason , that's what rival fans do that's what you did when you were higher than us now it's our turn to do it to you , i am not naive enough to think we will always be above you because we won't and i guarantee when that day comes you will be back taking the piss out of us

Spot on Waddle. :ayatollah:

i think people lose sight of the fact sometimes that football is supposed to be an enjoyable pastime , enjoy the rivalry , enjoy the banter because it's all swings and roundabouts as i have found over the last few decades supporting swansea , ah well off to the game now , i've dropped a bollock and told my daughter and niece that i would take them while pissed-up on christmas night , so am wasting time while they take ages to get ready

I find this thread extremely refreshing, when I read the title I was expecting the jack to really rip into us and take the piss and I wouldn't have blamed him after us all laughing at Shrewsbury beating them. I somehow ended up in the Macclesfield end yesterday, I was the last to leave the coach and in my drunken state, my mate and I went into the wrong turnstiles! I went straight into their lounge for a pint and immediately realised my mistake, but I ended up talking to a few Macclesfield fans, had a couple of pints with them and I actually stayed in the Macclesfield end to watch the game. When Macclesfield scored the winner and they all cheered, I thought good for Macclesfield. I had met some lovely Macclesfield fans and I was pleased they enjoyed their moment and have gone to the next round where they will hopefully draw a big team to keep them going financially. At the final whistle I wasn't really bothered we lost, we played a weak team, Malky now has a better idea which reserves/youngsters are ready and it's one less destraction, so we can now solely concentrate on hopefully running away with the league.

Not interested in the cup yet on here bitching about our away support yesterday when you cant even be bothered to turn up at home.

Scots Jack is there cos hes a proper Swansea fan unlike you.

As for him with his tongue up our arse didnt you meet up with your cardiff "friends" for drinks at the Ninian once? Yet you claim to hate us?

Log out and go and stand in the corner and repeat "I am a dunce" a thousand times.

Incorrect. You are a jack and you hate Cardiff with a passion as everyone on this forum can see

We on the otherhand find you irrelevant sorry regardless what league you're in and that's why you're on here and I'm not on your forum. :ayatollah:

So you'd rather spend your time posting on a CARDIFF CITY messageboard instead of going to watch your team at home? Interesting.....

As i said not intrested in the cups and would rather the prem games.
Small clubs like you like a cup run as you get a chance to play bigger sides.
Yes i class a few of cardiff lads mates but there is love in and never will be.
This yous to be a lads forum unlike planet swans and ccmb, were the do good fans go.
Scotsjack should be on there rather on a site were posters in the there past loved the other side of football.
