" Cardiff City ace Rob Earnshaw determined to prove worth at Cardiff City "

“I would imagine Robert will be looking for games which he is not going to get with Cardiff,” said Mackay.

Jan 6th 2013

WALES ace Robert Earnshaw is vowing to prove Malky Mackay wrong and help fire Cardiff City into the Premier League.

Earnie flies in from Israel today after his loan spell with Maccabi Tel Aviv was cut short and will be back in training with the Bluebirds at their Vale of Glamorgan Resort training ground tomorrow.

Mackay says Earnshaw is not part of his plans as he bids to get his Cardiff side into the elite in the coming five months.

But Earnshaw reckons he can impress the Cardiff manager in training and in matches, if given the chance.

“I’ve been playing regularly and scoring for a team aiming to win the Israel League and qualify for UEFA Champions League football,” said Earnshaw from his seaside home in Israel.

“I’m sharp and fit. Goals are my business and I have no doubt there are more to come.”

Earnshaw will talk to Mackay about his future and will try to persuade the Bluebirds manager he can play a part in their chase for Premier League status.

Cardiff are seven points clear at the top of the Championship with 20 matches left and Mackay played down the chance of Earnshaw playing a

significant role over the rest of this season.

But Earnshaw is intent on showing he can still contribute to the cause and says: “I will be professional, work hard and savour every moment

of training.

“I adore this club and want to be a part of what is happening.

“The gaffer has done a fantastic job and I realise he has a squad that is tight together and focused on their target come the end of this season.

“The strikers he has here have been outstanding, but if I am needed I will be there like a shot.

“I would like to be at Cardiff City when they achieve promotion to the top level.”

Mackay has said Earnshaw will be part of his squad at the club from tomorrow, but he reckons there is little chance of the striker playing much Championship football.

“I would imagine Robert will be looking for games which he is not going to get with Cardiff,” said Mackay.

“He is part of my group, but I would imagine he will be looking to get out again.

“We will work hard to get something moving for him.”

Earnshaw, though, will underline his desire to play for the Bluebirds and his willingness to be patient and wait for his chance.

Mackay already has Craig Bellamy, Heidar Helguson, Rudy Gestede, Joe Mason and Etien Velikonja challenging for places, while he is set to sign at least one more striker.

Bolton’s Marvin Sordell and Sunderland’s Fraizer Campbell are among those who have been linked with a move to Cardiff.

But Earnshaw said: “I have never stopped thinking about playing for City again.

“We’ll have to see what happens, but I will be looking to get involved and am happy to be coming back.”

Earnshaw was due to be with Maccabi Tel Aviv until the end of the season after being loaned out in September.

But he said : “Due to certain circumstances and some personal reasons I have to go back to Cardiff

“I have the hunger to play and I want to score more goals, My priority is to prove myself again at Cardiff, but we’ll

see how that develops.”

Not like Malky to speak out like that, and I'm not site earnie is up to it at this level any more. But if he could come back and make it work I for one would be buzzing. I hope he hits the training field and gives Malky more selection head aches. For some reason though, Malky doesn't seem to like him.

No chance. Gestede offers something different and has won us a game by scoring an important goal. He is a nightmare for defenders and often changes a game because even though his touch and finishing is not there yet he is still a handful just because of the physical stature of him. Earnshaw would only be in front of Velikonja in my opinion but to be honest I would bring in a striker this window, sell Earnie and send Velikonja out to league one to strengthen up.

He's only 31 if he gets the service he will get goals, I know he has lost pace but he doesn't score many tap ins alot of his goals are off balance/awkward or from the edge od the box

its not as if his doing a rudy gustede and scoring 2 tap ins in 2 seasons, even given earnshaw has lost pace he is still better than gustede and faster

I cannot believe you've just classed Rudy Gestede as a 'nightmare' for defenders!  Yes, he has a big physical presence but if you were to ask a defender what type of striker they dread to play it would be the ones with bags of pace, who are always on the move and looking to get in behind them by playing of their shoulder and inbetween the full back and centre half. Rudy Gestede doesn't do any of this  Robert Earnshaw does but does he still have the ability, I don't know, only way to find out is to give him the chance he's after!

Gustede couldn't hit a cows ass with a Banjo,

when he has the ball you expect a calamity to happen, you feel relieved if he makes a successful pass and doesn't lose the ball.

he's awkward for defenders but how many chances does he and we create? f**k all
at least Earnshaw will gaurantee 3,4,5 efforts at the goal in 45 minutes

In my opinion, irrespective of what Earnie's current form may or may not be, Malky should not have spoken the way he did in public.

It shows a complete lack of respect for a professional who has only ever shown respect themselves for Cardiff City FC and its fans.

Tracey I have to agree with you on that, it should of been kept behind closed doors.

What did he say that was bad?

"I would imagine he will be looking to get games which is not something he is going to get [here]," said Mackay.

I don't think this is something that should be commented on publicly - Malky has stated in no uncertain terms that Earnie will not get match time. I am not suggesting that Malky shouldn't be honest with Earnie but making this comment in front of the media is simply unprofessional in my opinion.

Maybe he has already said it to earnie?

I dont see the problem myself, he is just stating the obvious, he was loaned out because he wasnt good enough and nothing would have changed.

MM has said in previous interviews on earnie that he would be part of the group, I dont see how he will get a game either.

I do hope then that you're not anyone's manager because I am and would never publicly humiliate anyone in my team - I personally don't think that's appropriate behaviour - regardless of whether you have spoken to the individual already and regardless of whether there's truth (or not) in the matter.

Was Earnie the one who cut short the loan?

Maybe Malky has been told he needs to get Earnie back out before he gets somebody in?

Regardless, it's no secret Malky doesn't plan on using Earnie, I hope this doesn't make too many headlines and Earnie gets a team soon.

It's simply about what I consider is appropriate and professional behaviour.

those who say hes not upto this standard. how do you know. he has not been given a chance. when he was at forest he was used a sub and scored. malky is adamant to keep using gestede, who sadly has been given a chance and as much as we love him, hes not good enough. earnie didnt work well with miller because miller was too greedy. earnie is a poacher, a chopra if you like, he needs a peter thorne (helguson) to partner him.

The games I saw Miller & Earnie play together, it certainly wasn't Miller who was the greedy one?

I hate the way he's been treated. Malky must have some sort of problem with him. He has no massive ego, total respect for the club and fans, and he's way ahead of Velikonja and Gestede.

Theres no point digging at Malky.. He was signed before MM came here.

He is not the type of striker Malky wants and face it Malky didn't sign him so I'm not suprised.

Re: " EARNIE I WILL PROVE MALKY WRONG/ BUT MALKY SPEAKS OUT

Malky has already told earnie he is not part of his plans........ So earnie tells the local rag, "I love the club" & " I will just work hard in training " and so forth........Earnie went public first, he knows the score. I love the club and would try hard but I am not good enough either.

Its all about systems and we do play a big one HH (rudy is understudy) and a quick one Bells (Mason is his understudy), I am not playing Earnie ahead of Bells & Mason, are you ?
