I am not bothered by today's result, of course the performance was far from what we could have expected but I truly believe Cardiff City will get promoted this season and we do not need any distractions.
We have a bigger prize to bag this season and the cup is not part of it, maybe it is testament to our progress as a club.
Onwards to the Premier League and after the next league win none of you will be bothered by today's result, I would be more concerned if we lose to Ipswich.

nobody will have the fa cup to blame

We would bounce back and beat Blackpool.

We lost a meaningless game in a meaningless competition (this year anyway) to a team who were well up for it, with what can at best be described as a second team.
We lost a game. That's all. believe there may be way more important battles to be fought over the next few weeks and months.
No one should be bothered. On a positive note, I thought Nugent, John and Ralls were excellent.

Not upset, not bothered either. At the start of the season promotion was our main aim, we're on target at the moment to achieve that. Although our situation in terms of squad is better than last year - we ain't got the resources to attack a cup run alongside the league campaign. Another home win on Saturday and this will all be forgotten.

Just like the old days .At least we have the comfort of knowing we fielded a youth team with the exception of a few.
Sat Jan 05, 2013 7:09 pm
Completely agree

its an attitude that most PL and some championship clubs have had for years, hardly new, i personally prefer to solely concentrate on the league, as i expect the majority of our fans do

Carl did you not think there were players like gestede and Mutch who would have benefitted from 90 minutes after all they have 7 days rest now

100% agree Carlos…………only FOOLS would think any different as they are oblivious to the bigger picture and goal.
F@CK THE CUP…………WE'RE GOING UP!!

I dont want to lose any game. If we had mixed the team up with the likes of Gestade, Mutch, Kimbo and Mason (who all need more game time) then we could be in the next round and thereby giving more valuable experience to our young players

Totally agree our rivals have now got replays and extra matches to play when our 1st team will be able to rest and recover from any knocks they may pick up. Seems a good plan to me.
So much negativity people need to look at the bigger picture here. Premier league football is so close and after all these years of waiting surely it's what every fan wants to see.

What MUST really hurt Carl is the WAY we lost We DID NOT have a clue or a plan from the start AND do you honestlt see many of those players having a future in top class football?

Never been happier seeing us lose tbh

so what matches are these fringe players going to get any experience from now?
Sat Jan 05, 2013 8:57 pm
Lets be honest here we all knew why Malky did it and once the dust settles we ll see it made sense

Agree with you Carl, if we lose a league game on a Saturday it puts a massive downer on the rest of the weekend but I just don't feel that tonight. We all know what our objective is this season so hopefully a huge crowd next Saturday for Ipswich

Time for a few stellas

ok the reason we fielded a weakened side was to rest players if i was on the wages some our 1st team were on the simple answer is to have more sleep , between training and games , i think we gone to soft on footballers and in society in general , to much hard work never killed anyone has it , feel sorry for the fans who made the trip today and seeing a shock result like that , yea i am bothered cos there was an opportunity for those players to push for the city shirt , and they obviously didnt !!!!!
Sat Jan 05, 2013 11:33 pm
Sorry carl, couldnt disagree more.
The history books will show this as ccfc's worst ever fa cup defeat.. We have never lost to a team so many places below us in league positions.
What does that do for the confidence of our young players? Indeed it could have an adverse effect on our first team as they must surely now know their places are safe. It dosent take much for complacency to creep into a players mindset.
There is also no evidence a cup run can derail a teams league position. There is evidence that a bad defeat can though, we all know what happened to leeds. Was there really any need to rest the WHOLE first team? Imo i think if three or four of our first team would have played we may well have wrapped the game up by half time, took them off and given the kids a confidence boost. You can never fully protect players against injury, otherwise you wouldnt let them train. You can imo overprotect them.
Imo a bad bad day for the whole of cardiff city football club.

Even if we had won with that side today, we could have drawn a fairly decent side in the next round.
If that had happened, we'd have had no real choice BUT to field a strong side imo, especially if we drew against a premiership team.
If one or two of our best players had gotten injured in the fourth round and missed the rest of the season, stopping our momentum, I would have certainly been cursing a win today.
I love the FA Cup and hate seeing City lose, but losing today just didn't feel as bad as it usually does.
Everything happens for a reason.

Yes, but we may have drawn a lower league side at home, giving valueble game time to our younger players and also first teamers coming back from injury. Works both ways.

More concerned if we lost that game with current side but we did not ,all teams in the championship that are in this position rearly go above 5th round so who cares about cup ,this is our priorities and that's that
Sun Jan 06, 2013 1:12 am
I wouldnt say am not bothered by today but I understand why Malky picked that team

Well said Carl. Promotion to the Premiership and its riches is what its all about this season. For some reason people seem to have this jaded outlook on the fa cup, dont get me wrong, i love it, the minnows being drawn against the big clubs etc. But unfortunately, financially, and lets be honest, football is a business as we all know, the fa cup is nothing. Look at where Portsmouth are after winning the final against us. The fa cup died when the premiership was formed and the money mattered more than anything else, yes, its hard to stomach losing against a team thats way below us, but surely the bigger picture can be seen, or are expectations taking over sensibility?. At the end of the day, to be a successful club, we need to be up there with the big boys.

My dear carlccfc ...you really are a yes man, spouting the company line time after time,i thought you were better than that

I knew as soon as the final whistle went that this place would be up in arms as if someone had committed murder. People really have been waiting for anything to criticse club and team and i dread to think what will happen if we lose a few gamds on bounce.
