Does it REALLY matter

Sat Jan 05, 2013 5:07 pm

Ok we are out of the FA Cup - we played a second team against a team who play together week in week out.

If we had played our first team we would have won but at what cost...injuries, extra games etc.

I know it is a cliche but we can now concentrate solely on our main aim - promotion - well done Macclesfield and good luck

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE - this defeat will help us stay there!!!! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :old:

A decent cup run would have been a useful tool to keep the "development XI" motivated and fitter.

Harsh penalty but a fair result.
I will never criticise Malky again for not giving Velikonja or Harris a run out.
Somebody does need shooting though for paying what we did.

Only one player to come away with any credit... Declan John.
The rest unfortunately not good enough. Thank feck we have a decent first 15 or so especially with Smith returning.

it has no relevance on our target of getting promoted, but its still an awful result.

Paul, what I mean by that is it will not have a negative impact on our first team, no injuries, no extra games - that can only be of a benefit in the long term.

i dont think so, i actually think a 4th round game might have helped, any further than that and maybe you are right though

I think Malky reflected on our Carling Cup run last year and the damage it did to our potential promotion chances, he therefore played a weak team and thought lets see what happens!

the counter argument to that of course, was that our formed dipped after we won the semi final, with a cup final on the players minds, different situation here.

but anyway its over, and the aim is promotion, i just dont like the fact we are the big story of the 3rd round :(

Yeah, I love the fact that tne news forget to mention we played a really weak team - if any of our rivals think that was the real CCFC they are more deluded than I thought - I'm sure that we will be making positive headlines come May!!!

Well other than lose how else do you propose we exit the competition at this stage Einstein? Write a letter to the FA and tell them that we deem their cup a waste of our time...
