First time poster - a question

Sat Jan 05, 2013 4:03 am

I have visited this forum many times and I've decided to join in from time to time.

I love my football and I'm delighted how things are going this season, it's all about sport and sport is about winning and doing your best etc.

There is one thing that does baffle me though.

This is an open question to you all - what does following a football club mean to you? From what I read here many seem to know nothing about the game or care little about it at all. It seems to me that a lot of fans are taken up by the "culture" of football. Be it fashion, past hooligan experiences, rubber necking away fans, trying to prove how important they are and all the old clichés that come from "fans."

I realise the above is a generalisation but reading a few posts from individuals one would think this is typical of the City fan.

Personally I wish we'd stick to whether we think 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 etc is best.

Football is my religion and Cardiff City FC is my place of worship. Malky is my God.

The bond between a fan and a club is something special that is difficult to explain. I would say it is one of the strongest bonds and is second to family ties.

Your sticking to 4-3-3 0r 4-4-2 is a bit harsh I feel. Some fans don't have the means to understand all that yet feel the joy or pain we all have after a game. They are just as loyal as any of us. Reason vary as you know and it is just one of those things we all need to accept.

Being a football fan is what you want it to be not what someone thinks it should be! The game has many facets now especially with the social medium.
