Robert Earnshaw back at Cardiff City after Maccabi Tel Aviv loan ends
"I am very sad to be leaving Tel Aviv and feel honored to have played for such a club having gained and made friends for life."
Cardiff City striker Robert Earnshaw is heading back to the Bluebirds after his loan with Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv ended.
Earnshaw joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in September and has scored two goals for the club.
They have since gone top of the Israel's Winner League, going four points of city rivals Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Earnshaw's time in the Mediterranean city saw him endure air raids when Palestinian forces launched rocket attacks on Israel.
At the time he said life in Israel was "scary".
Earnshaw said: "Due to certain circumstances and some family reasons I have to go back to Cardiff.
"It's very hard to leave such a big football club like Maccabi Tel Aviv especially in the position it is in.
"I am very happy to have contributed to the club being in the first position and hope the rest of the team can carry the work on and win the championship at the end of the season.
"I would like to thank all the fans for their great support and also members of the club who had been good to me. I will keep supporting Maccabi from afar and hope they achieve great things in the future.
"I am very sad to be leaving Tel Aviv and feel honored to have played for such a club having gained and made friends for life."
Maccabi's sports director Jordi Cruyff said: "Robert played a significant part in helping us capture top spot with two winning goals against Ashdod and Maccabi Netanya.
"We all appreciate his professionalism and attitude over the past four months and we wish him all the best for the future."
A statement from Cardiff City said: "Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that Robert Earnshaw is heading back to the club in the next few days following his loan with Maccabi tel Aviv FC.
"As such he will not be part of their squad for their Monday match against Kiryat Shmona."

I can see him back out on loan....
I'm sure there's plenty of League 1 sides that would
jump at the chance to have him

We could use earnie as a bargaining tool, a player exchange plus money deal.

I reckon he'll end up at a mid table Championship side. Maybe Burnely if Austin goes, or Huddersfield

Could get 10 goals in a decent league 1 team tbf. Would be great for a league 2 team.. Cheltenham could be ideal.
