Peter Whittingham: Injury not a concern for Malky Mackay
Cardiff boss Malky Mackay has allayed fears over Peter Whittingham's injury by confirming that he hopes the influential playmaker will return against Ipswich next weekend.
There were worries that the former Aston Villa man would be set for an extended stay on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury against Millwall.
But Whittingham, an ever-present before the win at Birmingham, may just miss his side's FA Cup tie at Macclesfield along with left-back Andrew Taylor.
"Peter Whittingham tweaked a knee in our match against Millwall and wasn't quite ready," Mackay told the club's official website.
"Andrew Taylor fell ill and was feeling dreadful, so we sent him back to South Wales by car.
"We're hopeful they will both be ready for our next league match against Ipswich on Saturday week."
The Bluebirds are now seven points clear at the top of the table ahead of their FA Cup third round tie this weekend.

great news, and if he isnt just fit enough for the ipswich match you can be pretty sure he will be back for blackpool

Or it could be like the rest of the injured players city have had in which Malky says he hopes to see them back for the next game and 3 months later we are still waiting. This happened with Mutch every week until he finally put the shirt back on again. Smith is another! Im not relying on what Malky or the echo says until I see Whitts actually on the pitch!

I'd leave him out against Ipswich anyway. Give him another week off to make sure he's ok and recharge his batteries for tougher games to come. We should be able to cope without him against them.

Missing Brum and FA cup draw he's had a nice little break, Now time for him to fire a few goals starting at Ipswich
