Cardiff Plastics..

Wed Jan 02, 2013 9:08 pm

I've found it very amusing recently how people of my area, are starting to come out as 'cardiff' fans, due to our recent run of results and the strong possibility of promotion.

Don't get me wrong, i have nothing wrong with people starting to support a new club, as it can only be good for the team and the city. It just riles me, as these were the type of people who over the last 2 years have taken every possibility to have a dig at you over our little brothers, scumsea, playing in the premiership.

However, now the idea of Cardiff playing premiership is becoming more real everyday, they are beginning to jump ship, as to them the idea of a 30 minute train journey to watch the likes of Man Utd, Man City at the CCS is just to good to resist.

But like i said, this could be a good indication of how we would undoubtedly sell out the stadium week in week out next season, IF and i mean IF, we were to get promoted?

How does everyone else feel about this?

A mate of mine, Man Ure fan all his life, attended his very first FOOTBALL
match when we played Millwall last week.
He got the buzz straight away and will be looking to go again.

I'm happy to see converts personally.
If we're going to expand (through possible promotion) the stadium,
we will need these people.

Worst thing was he thought the Millwall games atmosphere was 'AMAZING'

I know what you mean! But in all honesty, I'd rather a Cardiff plastic then a man united, liverpool, leeds, arsenal etc plastic from cardiff. Nothing worse than being in a pub in wales, when man united are playing, only for the place to erupt when they score. I just want everyone in the pub who cheered, to die.

Loads of them by me mate. Ex Arsenal, Liverpool and United fans have converted and I know of a few others on the verge but these cretins be the first to switch back to them if we go back down. I just smile, take their season ticket money for a year happily.

Great feeling being top of the championship,
Spent most of the afternoon in Neville hall hospital hanging around waiting for treatment in my 1977 yellow away kit top felt f*cking ace.
A few fat scouse grandads and egg chasers commented on do you think city will bottle it again my reply was

OF CAUSE WE f*cking WONT .

All of them did admit though that they think it will.be the death of the EGG.

if they want to become Cardiff fans then good on them, it brings more money into the club! like me i only started supporting them when we moved into the CCS cos it was easier for me to get tickets and my mother realised its safer. Everyones got to start at some point in time, but people like myself are labelled plastics cos we never experienced Ninian Park! unfair tbh..

the thing that gets to me tho tbh is when people decide to turn up for the one big game of the season and say they;re massive cardiff fans, but then after and before that all they do is slate cardiff and go back to supporting Man Utd and Chelsea! that's what i don't like, and it's obvious people from around Cardiff will come to see us play, but IF we're relegated they wouldn't come back again!

I do agree with what you're all saying. I too believe it will be good for the club to have those extra 2,000 ticket sales each week. I was just saying how not so long ago, these people were slating Cardiff at every given opportunity. But, yes, ultimately these people could grow to be the future fanbase of the club, so :ayatollah:

If and when we do go up it will be kind of funny to see and hear of hundreds and even thousands of people clamouring for season tickets and matchday tickets for the premiership games but remember we have 20000 loyal fans and more who are there week in week out in the championship that will have nothing to worry about as long as we renew our season tickets come around the end of March :ayatollah:. But going up and staying up we will without doubt need to grow our fanbase to fill a 35000 seater stadium.

This plastic nonsense is childish, I usually enjoy reading this forum but I dont like this catergorising what level of fan you are. its great to see the stadium more full and louder than last year, at the millwall game I was sat next to three young French lads who were clearly there to see Rudy play, they may never go again or they may be at every game from now on, its none of my concern.

I follow the team not the fans.

Wigan are the only club without plastics but then they only have 2 loyal fans as well. :ayatollah:
