Joe Mason

Wed Jan 02, 2013 7:47 pm

Does anyone else feel sorry for Joe Mason?Last season he started quite a few games and came on as a sub in many, but this season Malky does not put him in the starting XI. Also he always chips in with a goal or two and some vital goals aswell for example the winner vs Brum yesterday,Carling Cup final vs Liverpool etc.

I think he should start up front with Helguson vs Ipswich because as shown yesterday Mason and Bellamy cant win headers so Bellay could play on the right put Noone on the left and take Conway off. Although Conway has impressed since his Transfer Request. It's a selection Dilemma week in week out for Malky.

My Starting XI vs Ipswich:
Marshall
Connolly Huds Turner Tayls
Bellers Whitts(If back) Gunna Noone
Helguson Mason

What's your opinion? :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

No, I don't feel sorry for him, but I do think he should be starting a lot more games for us.

he said in last weeks programme he didnt expect to start many and he is enjoying learning off the players like bellamy and heidar and he is working on getting himself bigger in the gym and having sprinting lessons whilst trying to break into the first team :ayatollah:

Im a massive fan and masons a massive talent but i dont think hes quite yet ready to make the starting 11 week in week out.
He will eventually be a complete striker and can only benefit from working alongside bellamy and helguson

id like to see him play 90 minutes against macclesfield

Mason is very talented. He is calm way beyond his years.

He never seems to panic and I don't think I have ever seen him once smash in a finish. He seems to just pass the ball into the net with ease!

He is learning from both Bellamy and Helguson. He is a top talent and imo I think we may have to wait until he is about 23 or 24 years old, then we will see what he can really do!

The only problem I see is if Mason isn't getting starts this season, when we get promoted (we will :ayatollah: ) and most likely bring in new players in the summer. What's going to happen to Joe?

Joe is very talented and will become a very good player! you can see he's got something there and pops in with the odd goal here and there off the bench, but you can see he needs a bit more time to develop! in my opinion in 1 or 2 more seasons i reckon he'll be up there playing with the best! :ayatollah:

I think we need better mason needs to learn and keep improving,
it wont be good enough in the premier league we find it tough in the championship let alone the premiership

Mason had a great season and got over 10 goals didn't he?

It was always going to be tough for him to get into the team this season but I think its a good sign that he still got a place on the bench and he can try improve certain aspects of his game to get into the team. :ayatollah:

He had the benefit of being an unknown quantity last season. This season it has already been shown that teams are more wary of him and he's not adapted as quickly as we would like in games. He's undoubtedly a talent and he has a future in the game but, as others have said, he needs to be tougher if he wants to progress. He's still too lightweight. If he could add 20% aggression to his game he'd be a proper talent. Still firmly in development though. Time on his side.
