doverblue can go do one, simple

Tue Jan 01, 2013 10:02 am

doverblue can sod off. Went back on CCMB with a clear intention to ruin peoples new years and be a jumped up idiot.

People say we got rid of history, got rid of tradition, like what? PLEASE TELL ME.

Our true amazing moments in history are winning the FA Cup in 1927 vs Arsenal and beating Real Madrid. Those are the only two glorious moments we had in 100 years of blue. Yes we got to finals, been to Wembley plenty of times but no one remembers the losers and that is a fact.

In blue we had 2 glorious moments which on paper we still have, just check our historic results. Most of our time in blue was bad. We had hooliganism run through the core of the club and build us up a terrible reputation. Ask many mothers a few years ago before we became family club of the year of their perception of the club and they'll tell you 'hooligans'.

There will be those that remember us for winning the FA Cup. There will be those that remember us for beating Madrid. However, most remember us as a side who were actively involved in hooliganism in its prime and now later as bottlers. Simple fact and you can't hide from it. We had a terrible image.

The only tradition we've washed down the drain is a bad image. If we go up this year in red the bottler tag is immediately gone. In red we have a chance to behave and prove ourselves as a new, fresh, reformed club that parents want to take their kids to see. Mothers turning up to take their sons etc. They may sit in the family stand but they're still paying to get in through the gate and the more the merrier.

Another fact is rival teams only remember the bad things other clubs do. When we beat Palace the other day we got called divers, time wasters and cheats. Thats because rival fans will always have a distorted view of your club. They will remember us for hooliganism and bottling it, not winning the FA Cup or beating Madrid. That is something only us bluebirds hold close to our hearts because we have an affinity with the club that can't be matched. Thats why we follow the bluebirds, the bond runs deep.

Our image was appalling and to move on in a business sense you must have a good image. Tan realised that so changed things up so that a decade or so down the line the club is known by more people as a nice place to come and that means more away fans through the gates as well.

Look at how many people cant be bothered with bubble trips, even some on here, just because they're too much effort and the police treat you like animals.

The fact is, Tan knows deep down its all about image but he cant come straight out and say 'because of the hooligan past' and use that as an excuse. It will turn fans against one another worse than whats happening now. Fans who weren't involved in hooliganism will be blaming those who were for the rebrand if he did. He would be alienating an entire section of his fan base, his customers.

Hes not an idiot. The guy is a genius. He has taken all the flack for it and made himself look the bad guy. This way only a very small minority will not go. In time, when we do well peoples views of Tan will change and as a new chapter in the history of Cardiff City is written, people will move on.

Perception changes because its human nature to judge a book by its cover.

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales ... -32195152/

You want to know why? Because the die hard fans who used to cause trouble have stayed away and the newer fans have seen a red club, a club wanting to change for the better, a club winning family club of the year awards, so they turn up and take their places. These new fans bring more fans through word of mouth. 'Great day out down the City, no trouble down there anymore like there used to be' etc. and more people give them a chance.

Sorry to have to say it but hooliganism set this club back many years in terms of a business sense. In business image and customer relationship is everything.

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footballna ... -28983656/

People read the shit above and don't take their children or buy their children merchandise. Far safer to let their children watch Sky Sports than risk them getting caught up in trouble down the stadium.

Its a hard truth we must all come to accept. We have had our times making Ninian intimidating, calling football players of rival teams names as they take a throw in, lighting flares in the grange end but we need to move on for business reasons. If we are ever to capitalise on our reach we need to change people's perceptions of the club and like it or hate it, Tan has done everything 100% spot on so far. He has changed the image on the eye i.e. the kit and badge, he has got the local community more involved, people like Jenkins have come up with good ideas to engage the community, the club has won awards, papers have said how nice a day trip it is. People read and see this and it changes some of their views of us.

Rival football fans opinions dont matter because they'll hate us no matter what we do. They have their club to support and that is not going to change. Its not them we need to please. The people we need to please are those looking to get involved with football and want a safe environment to go and watch a game and have a nice day out.

Still dont like red, i still want blue.....im just not harping on about it as theres jack shit any of us can do. Tan will do what he wants as its his club, everyone has their tipping point, i just wish people that have reached theirs retire into the shadows gracefully. Like most have. Its personal choice at the end of the day, wish others would stop ramming it down the othet sides throats.

We did get rid of tradition. The tradition of wearing our clubs true colours. 100 years of club tradition shouldn't be easily disregarded in order to gain riches or success.

We were first in brown and beige so blue isnt our original colour, just as Cardiff isnt our original name.

Totally disagree with the OP.

Tan will never be accepted unless he returns us to blue. Yes we will take his money but will we ask him to do the Ayatollah when he is in town, no we wont.

Since Cardiff City FC was formed, they always played in Blue. That shouldn't be so easily disregarded for no real reason other than its one man's favourite colour.

Riverside Albion merged with Riverside FC forming Cardiff City, blue being the chosen colour for the new club, the club we all support. We absolutely have thrown away one of the biggest elements of our identity , given that the nickname bluebirds came from the colour of our shirt. Just sitting back and hoping the colour gets returned will only be interpreted by Tan that the rebrand was a success.

You cant speak on behalf of everybody. You may not but if we get promoted i bet the crowd does.

That is the f*cking worst argument anyone has ever used to defend the rebrand. Cardiff City, since becoming a professional club, have always been the Bluebirds and played in Blue.

He will be accepted. Just you wait as soon as we get to the Premiership (if we get there) and we are filling the stadium, everyone buzzing looking forward to trips to Old Trafford and the Emirates, our fans will let it all go and in 2 or 3 years most will forget it. People are giving less of a crap about the rebrand by the day. In the summer people were fuming. The same people I know now don't care and are happy because we are top and are seeing decent players come through the door like Maynard and Bellamy.

You've got to ask why hasn't he been asked to do it already?

If everyone is so accepting of him, why not ask now - after all he's made the club sign some great players.

I havent defended the rebrand. Just citing our clubs history.

People in the summer were fuming. Now we are top you have the stubborn people fuming, some just in the middle seeing what happens and some others who no longer care because we are top and doing well. That is a fact. If we go up more will shift and idolize Tan, especially the younger generation. They will be loving trips to the biggest stadiums in Britain and Tan will be the reason for that. As pointed out in the OP, people's perceptions change very quick, fans can be fickle and if we get to the Prem and stay up, Tan invests in quality Prem level players most of our fans will think the sun shines out of his backside.

I dont trust any business men though.

Not really. He's kinda promoting the "good" of this rebrand in giving us a new image. Which is a load of rubbish.

No its not. Its a fact more children and families are down the stadium these days.

Re: doverblue can go do one, simple

Tue Jan 01, 2013 10:42 am

Which was the case WELL before the rebrand. As demonstrated when we won FAMILY CLUB OF THE YEAR. We were still in blue then! (Shock, horror!)

The reason more families are down there is due to the ground set up. Modern facilities - have you taken a look around the family stand? It's incredible for kids etc.

Naff all to do with the red.

The bigger crowds are proof of this. Especially if some reckon thousands have stayed away.

Nonsense. There are loads of kids in red in town, in the suburbs of Cardiff etc. Much more people wearing the red kit with pride than the blue kit.

Re: doverblue can go do one, simple

Tue Jan 01, 2013 10:45 am

It's the latest kit! Kids like to be seen in the latest kit. They haven't got the clue about history and tradition etc, they're far too young.

You're the one talking nonsense, claiming more families go down because of the rebrand. It's been the case since the new stadium - hence the award we won when we were STILL IN BLUE.

No, he's making the point that it's all down to the red, whereas I'm saying its not.

My example being of winning that award whilst still wearing that dreadful blue. ;)

Where did I say it was all down to the red? I said the red was a feature of his vision to rid the club of its bad image and it is whether you like it not. Thats business practice for you pal. You've clearly missed the point and going on some hype shit.
