Macclesfield Tickets - First Timer!!

Mon Dec 31, 2012 9:51 am

Hi,

I've been browsing this site for yonks as a source of entertainment and gossip, some true, some not so true, some completely outrageous!! So, firstly, thank you all very much for the informative, if not always wholly reliable, stuff that I've gained from here over the past 3 years or so.

Just a tiny weeny bit about my Cardiff heritage. I hark back to the days where Chris Pike was my favourite player during my adolescent years and went to every match of the 'Double' winning season and the seasons that sandwiched those. I was there at the Scunthorpe match that was revisited on here not so long ago with some pics of the day. I was there for Exeter away that same season as well as some other team (I can't remember who it was we were supposed to be seeing now) but the coach load ended up watching Man City v Southampton as the match was called off halfway up the M6. I remember us making more noise than the rest of the ground!! Great fun, great times!! :ayatollah:

Anyway, times and jobs have taken me up to North Wales and with 2 kids it's been very difficult for the last 15 years to see any match at all although I do watch a match when I'm visiting Cardiff now and again, most recently the Chopra winning goal match v Swansea on my first wedding anniversary with my ex-wife!!
Watching Wrexham is about as close as I've come to football ;) which is nice, but I can't care and get into it as they're just not MY team.

So, to the question: -

Now that the kids are a bit older (9) I'm wanting to watch more away matches as there are quite a few near-ish to here and I thought that the Macclesfield one would be a good starter.

Do I have to buy the £20 away ticket membership for all 3 of us for this?
Or can I just stroll up on the day?
Does this apply to any away match?
Any other information is welcomed and thank you all again in advance!!

You would have to purchase an away membership for each of you.

It would be half the price than at the start of the season, so £10.

I am not sure if kids away memberships is cheaper than adults.

Welcome to the board or at least for posting as you have been a long time reader :ayatollah:

Thank you very much Carl!!

I'll have to see how many more away matches I have close to me and make a choice as my kids won't be able to handle a 4-hour+ trek across country without being fully armed with a DS!!

OK, I'll take the plunge!! Realistically, excluding Macclesfield, there are 4 games I could go to from here: -

Blackpool
Burnley
Wolves
Sheffield

Are there any of these where the excessive rivalry would mean it would not be safe for my young kids?
I realise that Leeds would be another, but there's no way am I taking the kids to that one!! Unless it would be safe???

That pans out quite nicely at one per month with maybe Hull as a last game of the season finale.

So, into town for our mug shots for the away membership cards!!

Good move! I live up north too and my son and myself have away memberships. Travel down the A470 as often as we can too!
Being optimistic an away membership next season could give us trips to Everton, L'pool, ManU, ManC, Wigan etc etc. There are a lot of supporters up north we could possibly think of arranging mini busses or coaches???

Where to are you Bluegog?

I'm near Chester, but I'm certainly up for arranging minibuses etc if there's enough interest!! :ayatollah:

Bit further south than you-Dolgellau but there are a few fans in this area that make it a possibility. :ayatollah:

The likelihood is you'd be fine at Wolves, but it's one where there's a bit of history and it'll be the first time we've been allowed there on mass without restrictions, since it kicked off a few years back. Perhaps not advisable.

We travelled by car to Leeds last year and it was absolutely fine, voucher exchange, so you have to swap a voucher for a ticket at the services, but into a designated car park at the ground and simple enough to get out.

Maybe a pick up from Chester services on the M56 or would you go direct to the M6 from Dolgellau?

Thanks for the advice Welshlad!!

I thought Leeds would be more of an issue than that and I suppose I'll have to see what the vibes are on here closer to the Wolves match prior to setting out. As I'm taking the kids, I have to think about their safety first, and I thank you for letting me know about the possibility of trouble at Molyneux.

Is there any way a mod can change it please??!!! :)

Usually use M56 but M54 (M6) for Wolves and Brum.
