BOBBY ZAMORA

Sun Dec 30, 2012 4:08 pm

I'm sure Carl and/or Annis can confirm or deny this but I've been told by two different people quite close to the club that we are close to agreeing a £2-2.5m deal to sign Bobby Zamora.

Anyone shed some light?

He's better than what we have, scored goals wherever he's been so yes I wouldn't mind him.

You could hit the ball into him and feed off him unlike your mate Rudy

A perfect replacement for Nicky Maynard and perhaps slightly better. He would strengthen the current squad and is probably within reach.

Better than quoting names out of our league like Austin and Bent

If we flashed the cash I don't think Austin is out of our league but Bent no chance.

No doubt we could flash the cash but just think any price will be matched by a lower placed Prem team and you know what the player will choose. Just like Sordell last year.

Well if we pulled that off we'd NEARLY have the the full set. Best Goalie, Defender, Midfielder & 2nd Best Striker. :ayatollah:

For god sake are you lot mad. Why not appoint Mark Hughes and sign Barton and Kieron Dyer as well.

Genuine word of advice if you lot go up lool at players who are on their way up not failed premierleague has beens on their way down who cost four times as much.

You think strikers and wingers in demand and on the way up are CHEAPER than players that are surplus to requirement at Premier League clubs? You're funny

I mentioned him yesterday but I believe he his currently injured.
Castleblue also mentions Kevin Doyle which I also think is a strong contender and will do a fine job.

In their defence the jacks have played the market well. Mitchu for 2m prob the signing of the season.

I was about to post this the other day on Carl's 'three players' thread, them I checked and he's injured, a cheeky loan move could be done though. He would definitely score goals here with the service he would be getting, and he didn't get an England cap or two for no reason :ayatollah:

We tried to get him when he was at Brighton, he was a good player then, now he is just a sick note waiting to happen

No doubt they have spent their money well, but in our situation and talking about the January transfer window we will have more chance signing players not quite making it in the Prem than going for players in demand from the Championship.

Also an apology to JackF, on reading his post again, he did say IF we go up and was not talking about this transfer window. On that matter I agree with him would rather take the best from the Championship than take failures from other Prem teams. We were talking about this transfer window though.

Based on the fact that we are top and in many pundits eyes very nearly a shoe-in for promotion, maybe, just maybe we as fans can afford to set our sights a little higher in this transfer window. Can't argue that Malky's a top manager when it comes to getting the right players in and to any player looking for a club on the up we've gotta be a better prospect than the likes of Wigan,Aston Villa,Reading and QPR etc.I think 3 of these 4 will be in the championship next year and If I was the likes of Bent etc I wouldn't fancy a move to one of these based on that.

Rednapp just said he needs him back and he will make a big difference...
