INCREASING OUR CAPACITY

Sun Dec 30, 2012 2:20 pm

I am sure I read somewhere that we could increase the capacity by a couple of thousand with out making any major structural changes at the stadium, using the top balcony thing and doing something with the corner sections etc, may be wrong, but it may be a help in the interim. :old:

if we go up they should expand the stadium during the summer recess.

I think someone said just by moving a few things they can get to 27,000 but to go to 33,000 it would cost a lot of money but it would not be necessary to remove the roof.

The initial thought process of the club is to reconfigure the seating plan increasing the capacity to over 27,000.

Similar to what Norwich did to Carrow Road.http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 697757.stm

If we get promoted and stay up, the plan is to increase the capacity to 35,000. This process will be quite straightforward, as the footprint for expansion is already in place.

I would have thought if they do increase the capacity to 35,000 the outside asthetics will also be upgraded to look for like the main stand.

I think when the stadium was built I initially thought the corporate area was too large, however, in hindsight, this is a masterstroke by the planners as this is where the club can attract new investors and income.

There are massive voids behind the three commoners stands, had a walk around behind the highest seats and the ground can be expanded on three sides to mimic the Grandstand WITHOUT Moving the roof.

I am holding out for the day all the see through Perspex on the outside is upgraded to nicely backlight smoke glass. I hate that blue and clear plastic.

I would assume we could get an extra 1 or 2k just by filling in 2 or 3 corners.

They can initially expand the capacity by changing the seating configuration. Then they would add a further tier around the 3 remaining sides. The ground has also been built to allow a third tier without too many problems, should the need ever arise.
