THREE GAMES, THREE WINS, ONE WEEK!!!

Sun Dec 30, 2012 10:25 am

NOBODY else in the division has had as successful a xmas period as the City.
In fact, we've probably had the toughest schedule, yet managed to dent the
hopes of three of our closest rivals. Anything from the Birmingham City game
must now be seen as a great result. Boro, Hull and us all away from home with
our fixture seemingly the easiest of the three. A win will knock the stuffing
out of the chasing pack in my eyes. With new faces to come in?...............

I personally believe the defensive frailties have cured themselves, with our
lads now playing to the best of their abilities. But a fresh face, a full back
will certainly add to the strength back there.

Midfield, well its difficult to criticise Whitts, but he does seem to be firing
on less than all cylinders right now. Probably the break after New Years
Day will prove all he needs. Gunnarsson hopefully has suffered no more than
a dead leg? Because he's worked his socks off to get back in that starting 11.
Jordon Mutch? Well he's not hit early season form at all, but maybe seeing
Arun take his place on Saturday will gee him up the way its done other lads
who have been dropped. Out wide? We have no concerns either left or right.

Up front??? - Well Saturday has proven to me that we need cover up there, and
a fresh face. Helguson has run his bollocks off all season and obviously needs
the rest, but without being too critical... Gestede is NOT an adequate replacement.

We NEED someone big, FAST, strong in the air, who can hold the ball up and bring the
attacking midfielders into the game, someone who can bully the opposition centre
backs someone who can start a move, then bust a gut to get into the box and
finish it!! Its genuine pace we lack up there. Bellamy is awesome but we cannot rely
on him to play every game. Rudy? Well I'm sorry but the very idea that he was given
special sprint training worries me. He looks ungainly at best and hardly eats up the
ground. This area is my only concern. Because if Helguson gets injured, we will struggle.

We were all desperately worried about the defence. Not so much now.

Its the right signing up top that will spur us on. The right decision by Malky this next
week or two will see us continue to pull away. We could end up pissing this division!!

The striker you've described we need is a Drogba in his prime. Strikers with all those attibutes are all at big clubs in the prem

A Drogba 'type' player. The 'Auto traders' second hand version will do

Dave, we could not ask for more on the pitch. Our team and manager deserve nothing but praise. There will be a blip at some stage of the season and I hope the fans do not turn like some did back in Oct.

Agree mate. Everyone is giving 100%. We tend to forget that they have just played three games in a week.

I do worry that Helguson may sieze up soon. Saturday, resting him will have helped i hope.
Because I just do not see Rudy being the answer up there.

I wonder how many City fans, If he'd been playing for another Club would say "lets go get
him in January!"

As for a blip? The best thing about this 'group' as Lord Malky likes to put it  ...

is that they are resilient. When they lose a game, they come back stronger. On the rare
occasions they have lost TWO games... they come back like a steam train   :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

We have already had 2 blips, at Palace and Charlton.

Yes they do, one defeat and Malky's team take it out on the next 4 or 5 teams, love it. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
We still need strengthening in my opinion, going to be interesting this January. :ayatollah:

Exactly. And the point we are making was proven. This squad does not
lie down and feel sorry for itself.

I agree with what you say , we can't afford to sit back because the likes of Hull and Middlesboro and a few other will be biting our arse if we take our foot off the pedal .
I questioned the size of our squad at the beginning of season and whether Malky could keep everyone happy but now I'm pushing for a couple of players now. But I think a few can be moved out to make way for any new arrivals. I believe Malky works his players hard and I'm worried some are looking a little burnt out . Hopefully most will be rested for the FA cup clash.
Anyway we need a proven 20 goal Striker but vibes coming from the club appear all is well with the current team which worries me some what. Yes we are top but we need to be looking forward and not tapping ourselves on the back like we have in previous seasons.

I have to give credit to Malky it does look like he's mad us into a winning outfit fit for Premiership football and for the 1st time in years I'm starting to believe we will do it . I've also notice a lot of my friends in work and casual friends all now saying this is the season Cardiff is going to go up
