Sat Dec 29, 2012 6:58 pm

Here's the last 12 years of the championship :

Code:
00-01 - Fulham    101  Blackburn   91  Bolton         87
01-02 - Man City   99  West Brom   89  Wolves         86
02-03 - Portsmouth 98  Leicester   92  Sheff Utd      80
03-04 - Norwich    94  West Brom   86  Sunderland     79  (Cardiff 13th 65)
04-05 - Sunderland 94  Wigan       87  Ipswich        85  (Cardiff 16th 54)
05-06 - Reading   106  Sheff Utd   90  Watford        81  (Cardiff 11th 60)
06-07 - Sunderland 88  Birmingham  86  Derby          84  (Cardiff 13th 64)
07-08 - West Brom  81  Stoke       79  Hull           75  (Cardiff 12th 64)
08-09 - Wolves     90  Birmingham  83  Sheff Utd      80  (Cardiff  7th 74)
09-10 - Newcastle 102  West Brom   91  Notts Forest   79  (Cardiff  4th 76)
10-11 - QPR        88  Norwich     84  S**nsea        80  (Cardiff  4th 80)
11-12 - Reading    89  Southampton 88  West Ham       86  (Cardiff  6th 75)

12-13 - Cardiff    53  Hull        48  Middlesborough 47  (after 25 games)

Average points of 3rd place : 81.8

So we (just ;) ) need to get another 29 points or 10 wins from 21 games to have a real good chance of automatic promotion .....

Believe .....

Interesting, one game at a time, but it's the average that's higher than it should be cos of the three 100 pts plus seasons.

Looking good at the moment. On course at the moment, hope it stays that way :ayatollah:

Looking at those stats we need 88 points to be sure of beating all the 3rd placed teams from last twelve years. So 35 more to get to beat that mark

I've decided that I want to see another 36 pts, so 12 wins.

89 pts just to be safe.

That's a great table nine dogs, any chance you can do it after 25 games for all years?

11 wins 2 draws and with 8 loses. It's a nice feeling getting to the stage we can calculate this stuff, but a long way to go need a strong Jan transfer window. :ayatollah:

We took 30 points from last 21 games last season

From those stats no team that has broke the 50 point barrier in 25 games has ended up with less than 88 points. Thats the minimum so if we can get another 35/63 points on offer then we should be up. This season I cant see third getting more than 82 points if im honest though but better to get the points in early and start doing the math from a better position later.

Sorry, made a mistake, meant 53 point barrier which we've broken. Why I said 50 points I dont know as we're on 53  :ayatollah:
