Should McNaughton keep his place in the team?

Fri Dec 28, 2012 6:45 pm

Wasn't at the game on Boxing day but from what I heared he kept Zaha very quiet and crunched him with an amazing challenge at one point.

Should he be keeping his place in the team tomorrow or should Connolly be brought back in?

Discuss. :geek:

I would keep him in at fullback.

Yes, definitely. Some of the stick he got was uncalled for. He'd lost his match sharpness for Peterborough after being injured for a while, give him time and hell be back to his best.
Maybe bring Connolly back in for Turner

Agree - Kev stays in and Conolly in for Turner.

Im a firm believer of dont change a winning team unless you have to.

Keep McNaughton in - he was fantastic.

I would argue that Connolly should go in at centre back ahead of Turner, who frustrated me by hoofing the ball up the field multiple times against Palace.

McNaughton has been a magnificent servant for the club over many years and I think he still has what it takes.

As a stay at home full back with someone like Tommy Smith in front of him he is excellent no one in the league is better.

When he plays the modern way and goes forward he can run and beat people but as we all no its the quality of his final ball which lets him down.

If we play with an outlet for him then yea he should keep his place.

That is one part of Turner's game he has to work on. He doesn't have to always go for the long ball option. But imo the defence has been a lot tighter with Turner partnering Hudson. Connolly is a very good centre back but I personally think Turner is better than him!

If you get an opportunity and play well you should keep your place.Gunardson should also start.

I admit it's a tough call, and Turner has been fantastic.

Connolly has been fantastic this season, and answered the call when playing out of position. Kev's confidence needs to build back up, so another start would do him good.

I can't remember the last time we had a defensive selection dilemma thanks to good performances.

Kev has been SHITE this season.

Last Saturday he was brilliant.

He should keep his place, same as Gunnarrsson

turner is excellent off the ball , but with the ball hes so frustrating he just hoofs it long ball everytime and 9 times out of 10 it goes back to opposition.

I can't get my head around it.
In fairness sometimes he has no options but it makes no sense especially up to Helguson, does MM talk to him about it? Confuses me.

I think Malky will look at it tactically, what sort of left winger are we against? Are Millwall a tall team? Ok a bit more detailed than this but you get the drift, Kev and Matt C are different types of players with different strengths and weaknesses.

I think Kev may keep the shirt but I would choose Matt C as he offers more cover in the air defensively and attacking corners/set pieces, also he can pass! Still luv Kev though :ayatollah:
