Not even that will help us. The simple fact is there are too many middle/upper class fans at our club who love nothing more than to sit down, moan and have a picnic with their family whilst watching some football. Football used to be a working class game but as more money has come into the fray, ticket prices have gone up during a period when times are getting harder, and that has frozen many out.

I totally agree with you. It's the fans that create the atmosphere not the standard of football and a metal railing.

New songs will help as fans dont bother singing the same boring few every game

The ONE thing that will bring our stadium to life is our fans singing! How many of the people who were at the Leeds game were there on Boxing Day?
If each of them sang, like I did in the family stand, then the place would be bouncing!

You can't start new songs if the fans don't want to sing. As pointed out above. The same type of people who 5-10 years ago were going to Lords and Wimbledon are now filling football stadiums. They just love to sit there and talk to their families about their wonderful shopping trip to John Lewis decorating the house with over priced shit. Thats the type of fan that is going to every stadium in the country. When they can't make a game, they don't sell the ticket, the seat just gets left. £30 is nothing to them and that's a hard fact whilst those with lower incomes are struggling to get money together the Friday before a game only to find out that the ticket has got more expensive because of the early bird pricing system. At this point they can no longer afford a ticket.
Why do you think the family stand is the loudest? They're the only tickets the passionate working class members of society can afford come pay day/match day.

The family stand is like a morgue, I sit there every game and hate it

Posted this the other week, a lot of the lads agreed.
That threshold between doing well and almost there, that will be the difference. We haven't been able to do the nearly there part yet...but when that realisation comes and expectations realised, I believe we are in for a cracking bunch of games. The negative attitude and flat atmospheres has been analysed over and over, but I believe its simply down to this
high expectation X under achievement X over far too many seasons = a strong sense of frustration, and even higher level of expectation, which in affect cause the crowd to almost be business like in its approach to a game and therefore atmosphere. We no longer see certain high profile clubs as a great game/great scalp.....its just 3 points needed to move forward.
I said on a thread that once we do go up the atmosphere will change for the better, not just cos we are in the big time but because expectation will be at an all time low again like it was a few years back, and we will enjoy being that partizan crowd screaming city on to take a few giant scalps along the way.
