' Craig Bellamy is Bluebirds ace card, says Ian Holloway '
Dec 27th 2012
“He should really be playing at the next level, but he has a real affinity with this club and wants to play for them.
CRAIG Bellamy could be the ace in Cardiff City’s promotion pack, according to Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway.
Bellamy set up both goals as Cardiff completed a vital 2-1 comeback win against Holloway’s Eagles yesterday.
“Bellamy could well be the difference in the Championship this season,” said Holloway, who was dismayed that his England winger Wilfried Zaha had not been awarded a second-half penalty with the score at 1-1.
“He should really be playing at the next level, but he has a real affinity with this club and wants to play for them.
“He wants to do something special for his hometown club and he has real quality.”
The team top of the Championship at Christmas has been promoted eight times in the last 10 seasons and the Bluebirds were flying high over the festive period.
With second-placed Hull held 0-0 at home by Leicester, Cardiff now have a five-point lead to take into Saturday’s home game with Millwall.
Yesterday they also became the first side in Britain to hit the magic 50-point barrier in League football.
“We can grind teams down with our fitness and patience,” said Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay.
“We know we can get on teams if we work hard and step on it.
“We started slowly, Palace started well and it took half an hour for us to be on the front foot and get into the game.
“But we imposed ourselves in the final 15 minutes, won the ball higher up the pitch and played well in the second half.
“We were braver and that got us into attacking positions.”

I thought his post match analysis was pretty fair tbh. Had Palace scored a second in the first half before we equalised, then things might have been a lot different. He mentioned the Reading situation last season as well,,,I think there are six or seven teams in the Championship who are capable, & could launch a similar push this season.

Fair play to him, that was a sensible interview - I've always quite liked old Holloway.

He understands why Bellamy is here.
I ain't really had nothing against him.
He was okay before the year he went up with Blackpool.

Was a knob earlier this year too.
I thought the stress was getting to him at that point.
"They were booing the team in the first twenty minutes... I don;'t know if you heard that...? Well I certainly did..."
