Arthritis

Can arthritis start affecting different joints at the same time? Say you have never had Arthritis before, how likely is it to have it start affecting different joints at pretty much exactly the same time? Almost as if it has spread to other joints? Or does it only affect joints that have been worn down over time? Thanks.

Osteo arthritis tends to affect joints that have had a trauma at some time or excessive use, hence wear and tear, Rheumatoid arthritis can however affect multiple joints and sometime simultaneously, usually starting in the extremities.

There are however other symptoms relating to problems that may feel like arthritis but are non arthritic, a blood test will help establish the actual case. :old:

Osteoarthritis is a chronic disease, a degenerative one at that. It's extremely common, but it's to do with the degeneration of the joint cartilage. The disease itself is the primary cause, and it can affect multiple multiple joints, yes.

Diabetes, obesity & trauma/injury to the joint are also causes of osteoarthritis.

But yeah, osteoarthritis can affect multiple joints, best to check with a Doctor. I only ever deal with pre-hospital care. A doctor is going to know much more than me. :ayatollah:
