We give the EU 12 million a year.

We get 9 million back.

Certain projects in Wales are match funded.

Plaid have said that Wales would have a 40% shortfall if we went alone.

I'm not sure if 40% is correct, but it's not a small figure.

Any idea how much it costs to teach kids Latin??
What use is Latin in a modern Wales.

So you brought up something no one had even brought into this debate to prove your point. Well in that case it was stupid as I actually agree with you. Latin is a waste of money as well and there is no point investing in it.

Whether the Anti-Welsh Language Brigade like to admit it or not...
Welsh IS an advantage for getting top jobs in Wales now.

Why is either anti Welsh or pro welsh? I understand people may want to use it at home but the education system should be teaching languages that are of more use. You go to Scandinavian countries where primary and secondary education is very good and they are learning English, a lot of German and even Russian and Mandarin. All languages used in international business. Unless Wales starts mass trade with Patagonia I can't see Welsh being used on an international scale very soon.

If the language actually bugs people.... move!... cos the language never will!!
YMA O HYD

It doesn't bug me at all. I just find it laughable that our Welsh Assembly Government can come out and say there are spending cuts and they need money and all this malarkey when they're investing in things that should not be invested in.

Lets take Finland for starters.... Same as Wales, they offer courses in German, Mandarin, Cantonese, Urdu...

But FINNISH???? f**k me, there are only 5 million people there, and I never once heard
Gordon Gecko say "hurdy gurdy, buyunzee de shares"... Finnish is NOT a transferable
language.

So why not let that language die off?????

At least be honest lad. You HATE the Welsh Language for personal reasons.

sad, because tourists love it. So do the 600,00o that speak it

Welsh schools should teach English and Welsh as the native languages, PLUS foreign languages like Spanish, French, German, Russian etc...

Take the Belgians, Swiss, Tirol-Italians who learn and speak 2 langauges (some Swiss even 3). Or Slovenians, the kids learn their own language at school (which is related to Croatian/Serbian) and pick up Slovak and Czech as well, plus they all have English and German at School.

Welsh people should have a basic knowledge in Welsh, it's either laziness or ignorance if someone doesnt even try to speak a few word in his/her own language.

Hwyl fawr

I do not hate the Welsh language at all. I actually like it but it is to me a novelty language. There are at least 10 languages I'd rather know.

Also, you take Finland, why not Sweden? Picked probably the weakest for your argument.
