Been a lurker for quite a while, but reading a few comments on here has forced me somewhat to have a say on the current proceedings.
Firstly, let me add that City have been in my blood ever since my Dad took me to my first game during the 84/85 season. I can still remember the roar emanating from the Bob Bank, and how it scared the shit out of me! :ayatollah:
From that memerable day till we left to move here in 1996, Ninian Park was my 2nd home.
That being said, although my heart is still blue, I can reluctantly accept the red shirts if it means a future for our club. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the abysmal badge design :(

Now on to the matter that caused me to rear my ugly head from behind the safety of the lurker bushes. Possible TV rights in Asia.
I was on holiday in Vietnam last year, and was blown away by their love of football. Even in a small Asian country like Vietnam (population of 20 million), they've dedicated 2 whole channels just for football. In fact I actually watched City's game against Leeds, live from Elland Road on one of those channels.
The advantages of marketing City via TV deals in Asia are massive, both in terms of people support, and in terms of financial profit.
I know change is hard to fathom for a few of us City fans, but in my opinion Vincent Tan foresees a bright future for our club, and this statement shows that he's more than willing to (allegedly) put his money where his mouth is.
Hopefully we'll see some transfer activity soon. Can't wait to see what Malky and his team have in store for us during this upcoming season :ayatollah:

That statement shows they know what they are doing :ayatollah:

Re: " Vincent Tan Statement "

still no reasons given for the rebranding...
they lied to us, why should I believe they are doing this for the best of our football club? Sam said he does his best for us, the Riddler said the same...

no change for me, NO to the re-brand

But today Annis has said the club will not go ahead with the Stadium capacity increase. But in his statement VT says that it would be silly not to get this increase now. SO WHAT IS THE TRUTH ?.

NOTHING as of yet bar 7% loans and a rebrand/red stadium which is going on as we speak and there not even 100% owners yet. Theres me thinking all this was based on langston being payed and we move on how wrong was i, i feel for the red fans who couldnt wait for there team of stars to arrive :ayatollah:

^^^^this!! the 2nd part is exactly what people don't see!.. we might see championship football as poor but people in Asia will love it! and people are saying 'who would want to watch championship 2nd tier football?' well we all know championship football is far better than most countries top tier leagues e.g Scotland, Ireland and you might even say France these days (IMO its poor!) so why wouldn't they watch it? what i heard it was the 5th/6th richest and well attended league in europe? so why wouldn't they want to watch our football?!

VT and TG know what they're doing IMO, they're billionaires for a reason! :ayatollah:

Thank you for the investment - we would be down shit creek - FACT - just look at debts - repayment etc etc NO HMRC either chasing us.

What more do fans want ??

RED will see whether its commercially right or not but if someone gave me £100m and put money into shares then I would snap their hand off.

Langstone debt should be paid - then monthly reduction of £1m will take place.

Shrewd business people take a step back from emotion and so far thenplan is working.

Lets stop the lets go into admin , lets boycott games , etc etc and show some respect for the hand that feeds us !

History cannot be taken away so thats another futile arguement .

Looking forward to new season gives MM a chance to get in new signings and watch us go.

asian TV revenue separately negotiated will be worth millions - malaysaiansknow how to mkae money .

they cant sell club for £100m at present so we have to trust !! they have my full support :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I would say to all the doubters......put your money where your mouths are.

I think this guy knows where he can take this club, and how to get it to the next level.

Give him a chance...have a bit of faith.

Many of us have been putting our money where our mouths are for 20+ years, and when it comes to relative wealth we've put a damn sight more of our overall earnings in than VT, so I think that gives us more than enough right to voice our discontent thanks....

Re: " Vincent Tan Statement "

The thing that stands out to me from the statement is that we seem to be stuck with the beer mat :x

I can certainly understand the point about associating the team with the national symbol but of course we don't know what suggestions have been passed along. It would seem he has been shown the badge that seems to be favourite here but has dismissed it as it isn't the full Welsh Dragon on it.

That being said, we have no idea if it has been suggested to add the Welsh flag on the shirt or other promotional material to satisfy the national link. Nor do we know if the suggestion of using current crest but swapping the Bluebird and Dragon has been passed for consideration.

At the end of the day if he is paying the money he has the final choice and supporters can do sod all about it but it is sad the club are not keeping the fans in touch with what representations have been made.It is very frustrating not to know if he is even aware of how much the new crest is detested.

with the level of debate about the badge I am disappointed that there has been no expression from the club about where they stand. I would have hoped somebody would have been prepared to stick their head above the parapet and committed to ongoing pressure to get the backers to reconsider.

Or maybe the doubters can come up with somebody else who is prepared to put in £1.2 million a month just to keep us afloat?? or even better someone who will invest £100 million??

Nothing to do with lies, call me stupid if you want but i think the owner of the club knows a little bit more of what,s going on at the face pit than any of us fans, don,t you????

Re: " Vincent Tan Statement "

Thu Jun 14, 2012 5:39 pm

Mr. Tan,

I support Cardiff City for 22 years now, spent my holidays in Cardiff to watch my team play. I flew over from Germany, for the odd game too, I even moved to Cardiff and lived here for 3 years because of my love to the club. I have been called "traitor" by a certain Sam H. cos I boycotted a bubblegame at Leeds, got beaten and physically abused (but fought back... :D ) at away games. I spent a lot of money over the years, not as much as you do, but hey, I am not as wealthy as you.

And to me, and a lot of my fellow Bluebirds fans, it breaks my heart what this rebrand does to our proud club. It takes away what we all love, our crest (the bluebird) and our clubcolours. And for what reason? No reasons given...

A few weeks ago we were promised the club wouldnt do this rebrand, now with the changes imposed, the truth comes out: we have been lied to.

I didnt buy a season ticket (for obvious reasons), but if I had, I would want a full refund now, as I have lost faith (not in the club, but in its leadership) and trust.

I still love the club, the club for me is blue and carries our crest.

YES, I am a City fan,
YES, I like Wales,
I am neutral to the colour of red,
but when it respresents Wales I like it,
YES, I like the Dragon as the symbol of Wales..

...but NOT as our CARDIFF CITY crest!

Kind regards

German Shepherd

Annis, how can you compare VT with the riddler and sam??? for a start the riddler only stole off our club and sam after his original financial input (which in football terms wasn,t a lot) run up all our existing debt, putting the re-branding to one side, up until know, VT has only put money INTO our club!!!

Re: " Vincent Tan Statement "

I think TG had no choice...........He made that statement prematurely. Should have made it once they realised the majority were for the change. Hard to call him a liar. Hes just guilty of releasing a statement too early!

Re: " Vincent Tan Statement "

i DONT SEE ANYBODY ELSE PUTTING MILLIONS INTO THE CLUB so that we have a club to support.who cares about the colour bloody hell get a life guys.At least he has given a statement more than what others have done in the past.Dont forget without them we would not have a club to support.History is history its the future you need to be concentrating on.

I back Annis on this...I am the same.

Only difference is, he knows he's wrong sometimes but stil insists he's right, like when it comes to support the England team...
