I have been a Bluebird since 1958 and although I was so disappointed to miss the final because I am visiting the family in Australia, I am so glad I made the effort to watch my team with many others in a bar in Sydney at 3.00 am.

I came out of there into the sunshine at 6.30am and was very tired but very proud of my team's performance, although gutted to lose out on penalties, I would like to thank Malky and all the squad for there 100% commitment, I have never seen a Cardiff City team play and work harder.

Respect :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

All we could've ever asked for.

Thank you.

Inches away thats all, couldnt have asked for more and very proud of everyone :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Proudest moment as a City fan by a mile. Everyone was incredible yesterday, from Malky, to his staff, to the players, to the fans! Every one has pulled together and is playing for each other and the shirt and its a pleasure to feel a part of it!!

I was so proud of the effort and commitment from everyone on Sunday. We more than matched the so called superstars of Liverpool for 120 minutes. I've never celebrated a goal the way I did when we scored our second. Hugging random strangers and then I fell over some seats. Never felt the pain as it was too emotional for words. Got a huge cut on my leg. Thanks to Malky and all the players, you were brilliant :ayatollah:

The one bad thing about Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and the rest of the rich and the best is they can never experience what we did yesterday. The true underdog story, the fight, the fact every single player was dead on their feet and what looked like they could give no more. When Liverpool scored the second, every single person was proud of your efforts, you were heroes then, you gave it your all and we would have gone home proud. Then somehow, when everyone was pulling up with cramp, could barley move, you gave it one last shot. Then probably the greatest thing I've ever witnessed happened, we got the equaliser, the amount of balls, guts, grit and fight that showed just gave me the biggest sense of pride, you don't know 99.9% of us fans, but you fought for this dam football club. You went up against one of the best in the business, went toe to toe and you didn't lose. f**k the penalties, we'll remember THAT day forever. And for that I want to thank you. Now keep your heads, believe you can do this and lets get to that premier league.

Well done lads! You've made each and every Bluebird proud of the commitment, heart and never-say-die attitude you all showed. You took on one of the giants of English football and of Europe and proved that each and everyone of you has the quality and ability to take teams like that on week in week out, it was the best performance I have ever seen from a Cardiff side! If you play like this every week you'll all be enjoying the high life of Premiership football boys! You've all proven that your scared of no team and that teams have a reason to fear you. Keep your heads up high and your frustrations down low.

Thank you all for the hard work each and everyone of you give on and off the pitch, all of us appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts! :ayatollah:

To go toe to toe with one of the biggest clubs in world football and all the money they've spent is incredible. Thanks for the memories, they'll stay with me until I die. In all my 36 years of following the City, through the good times and the bad I have never felt as much pride as I feel now being a Bluebird and that is down to the guys who played at Wembley in the Blue of Cardiff City.

You gave it all and more and for that I thank you, It is time to look forward now. Let's go back to Wembley in May and make this the greatest season in City's history.

I had a magical day, from start to finish, thanks to our superb supporters (who are second to none) and a stunning performance by every one of our players.

Tom Heaton

Kevin McNaughton

Mark Hudson

Ben Turner

Andrew Taylor

Don Cowie

Peter Whittingham

Aron Gunnarsson

Joe Mason

Rudi Gestede

Kenny Miller

Anthony Gerrard

Darcy Blake

Filip Kiss

Look at those names, warriors of the highest order, all of them.

I was privileged to be a part of such an occasion and I would like to say thank you to all the players, Malky MacKay and all his staff for providing such a memorable day for my son and I.

My son went back to school today to face all his Jack mates with his head held high - and rightly so.

Thank you, Cardiff City Football Club.

Still bursting with pride, I will always remember Sunday, like the birth of my children it is something that will stay with me forever. Malky and the Players I thank you for that performance and putting the pride back into Cardiff City. We may not have the trophy, be quite rightly we have all the plaudits and every single one of you are winners in my eyes. Cried on Sunday and crying now, not through disappointment but pure unadulterated pride.

Re: " Official Tributes Thread "

1967 I saw my first City game and I can honestly say I've never been prouder of and City performance than I was on Sunday.
I looked across the pitch seconds before we got the second equaliser and thought my god there's eleven guys on that pitch that are close to collapse such was the effort you guys had put in. Malkay said before the game that 9 times out of 10 Liverpool would win the game but this could be the 10th game. For once I think he was wrong. On that performance we would have won as often as we'd lose.
Lads chin up and try and get us that coveted Premier League spot, if its not to be this year the league better look out next season.
I'm recommending Malkay for the OBE. (the order of Bluebirds everywhere!) :ayatollah:

After viewing the forum for a while after going to Wembley on Sunday had to make my 1st post! Was such a proud man leaving Wembley, yes the win would have been amazing but the players left everything they had on the field, as supporters we couldn't have asked for any more. The atmosphere was electrifying and when Turner scored the equaliser I thought I was having a heart attack. The team shows so much battling quality and Malky has put the passion back into a team that was very much lacking towards the end of last season! Our day will come! In Malky we Trust! All the best to the lads for the rest of the season and if they carry on battling like they have done all season I for one will be a very happ bluebird :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " Official Tributes Thread "

Being a Cardiff fan through thick and thing, I have never been more proud of any Cardiff team in my entire life.
Heaton was magnificent in goals. His penalty save is the best penalty save I've ever seen.
Super Kev seemed to be targeted by Liverpool but hasn't been given the credit he deserves by national newspapers for taming Downing in the 2nd half/extra time.
Hudson lead by example and proved what a difference he is in the side. (Interception from Carroll top class)
Turner marked Suarez out of the game, and his last gasp goal was the highlight of an incredible game.
Taylor had an easy ride against Henderson who was awful, but he deserves credit for being attacking minded when in possession
Cowie gave everything (as usual), his through ball to Miller in the last minute was worthy of winning any final!
Whittingham was again, brilliant, he done the simple stuff well, which was the crucial thing. His set pieces again top-notch.
Gunnarsson showed how crucial he is. He could hardly walk at the end but showed so much determination to throw one last throw which eventually led to the goal. (after 2 corners)
I was surprised when Gestede played but he gave Liverpool problems, and like Gunnarsson, gave everything and was so unlucky with his pen. He deserved to score.
I was pleased when mason started, and his finish was as good as anyone who's graced Wembley. He proved what a bargain he is and how he started the dream.
Miller played so well, and he hit the penalty well, I hope this doesn't haunt him, like his chance at the end. He deserves credit as he looked so tired at the end.
Gerrard, Kiss and Blake also played a part, I hope Gerrard gets over this, because he can play a crucial part in the latter stages of the season.
Malky, backroom staff, supporters, owners, these players done us so proud and we proved to the English that we ain't bottlers and what CCFC is all about.

Sunday was a truly epic day in the life of Cardiff city football club, each and everyone of the players and management deserve a massive pat on the back for coming so close to beating one of the top sides in Europe, it was the proudest moment I've ever had supporting my beloved team, the passion and commitment shown was top draw, if you all play like that until the end of the season I have no doubt we will be graceing the premier league next season,
From a very proud BLUEBIRD!!! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Totally amazing I have never been so proud to call myself a bluebird fan I'm gobsmacked as to the pain and effort u put yourselfs through for our club. There was only one set of fans singing on the way out of wembley and that was the proudest lot all dressed in blue, I honestly believe I floated out of wembley as even though the result went against us I felt as though we had the most to celebrate.

Amazing from start to finish and malky you are an unbelievable manager dedication and commitment is what you got and it has been passed through you into the players on the pitch an into the fans.

Each an everyone of you be proud of what you achieved that day. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

It was one of the best games i ever had the pleasure of Witnessing so thank you for that. You have the potential to become a Premiership team this year if not next year keep at it and don't let anyone get you down as for every game I'll be there whether its going to see you play or listening on the radio. Thank You and never stop Believing. :D :D :D :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Fantastic performance and effort by all the squad, who clearly gave their all!

The disappointment of not winning will quickly pass and the realisation of what a huge achievement the team have accomplished, will soon sink in!

There's no prouder time to be a Bluebird supporter, as myself and my son are and all the players, management and other staff, should also be proud of their efforts and achievement, hold their heads up high and their chests very proud indeed! :ayatollah:

Re: " Official Tributes Thread "

Where to begin? I suppose it all traces back to Malky Mackay. What. A. Man. Seriously the job he has done, when he came in back in June he had 11 players on the training field and in just over 6 weeks, he put together a team that beat West Ham at Upton Park. Since then we have gone from strength to strength and reached the final of the League Cup and pushed Liverpool all the way, the only thing separating us was one PK. One. From a team that cost over £100M and is one of the Prem's biggest teams, against a Championship side that cost under £5M... would you know the difference? We lined up with 3 strikers as well, a brave move from Malky.

I am so god-damn proud of that team right now, the spirit they showed out there and the energy, desire was the best I have ever seen from us, the resilience and grit we showed when going 2-1 down to come back in ET, which could have finished us and equalise at the death thanks to Turner brought a small tear to my eye. Everyone around me felt the same way, I was swamped by about 4 people and we nearly lifted the roof off. The mass ayatollah was great, you could tell the Pool fans were all looking like "wtf?"

And then the penalties... I don't think my heart will ever beat that fast again. Heaton- what a save and was class throughout, needs a new contract right now. Anthony Gerrard- do not beat yourself up over that miss, other great players have missed crucial penalties, Baggio, Shevchenko etc. you aren't the first and won't be the last, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger Both sets of supporters were excellent, mostly well behaved and the banter was flying around outside. "We've been here four times" made me smile. Thought it was a little cheeky that they played YNWA before the game, and I laughed when they were quiet during the first verse and acted like they knew it all along at the Chorus. They were silent when we took the lead, we weren't that quiet when they were 2-1 up. Good fans though.

All in all lads, great day, great performance and I couldn't be prouder. We'll be back in May.

Re: " Official Tributes Thread "

Wed Feb 29, 2012 4:31 pm

Probably the best display I've seen from a city side, Leeds when we beat them at Ninian was brilliant, but this was a massive game on the world stage.

Few clubs from the championship make it to finals these days, and we've made it twice.

I thought the day out at wembley versus pompy couldn't have been bettered unless we won - but you proved that wrong.

You, the players and staff have made me immensly proud to be a Cardiff Fan, coming into my office in Bristol this week, all the neutrals and many of the Liverpool fans have said how much they enjoyed watching us play.

As many have said before - forget the penalities, a winners medal would have been nice but your names will never be forgotten.
