I would like Jay back on around 9-10k a week with a goal and win bonus. If he does come back I think he head will be in the right place and he will have a point to prove. Last season he had a few injuries and I don't think he got back to full fitness. Also the club didn't help by only offering a grand a week pay rise which did even put him on par with some of our average players. How would you feel if you wasthe best player and the club doesn't rate you on the same level as a pisshead who most likely blows more in a week then Jay earns. Or less than a player whos head has gone and can't get in the side.

This is why we need a new Manager in place ASAP then it's his decision and his decision only if he wants Jay here and if he feels he can get the best out of him.
Personally i would have him back as its virtually a free transfer and to get in anyone decent to replace him is going to cost at least 2 - 3 m

Also if Jay puts his mind to it he can be a real handful at Championship level and can offer 15 - 25 goals a season. However he needs to toughen up and stop moaning and get on with the bloody game personally pre season i would send him on a SAS survival course
So on balance I would offer him a 3 year contract on 12K a year with a 1K bonus for every goal scored and a big bonus for promotion the Jay we had at the start of the season would be a real asset

What I was told was that Sky Andrew asked for a wage of £14k per week for Jay.
Remember that Jay was offered £9k per week at the beginning of the season, which was an extra £1k per week than the contract he was on.
I am told that the club have turned the 'offer' down. Whether or not that depends on the new manager would suggest the strongest reason for City turning it down, even though this was not the reason given to me but there again no reason was given.
Why should Jay think, that on his own performance last year that he is worth 6k more a week! He hasn't won anything yet in his professional career. He ressurected his career here, he was going knowhere fast, he should be rewarding the club, not us rewarding him for letting himself and the fans down with some of his peformances last year.
He will fall like a stone at a Premiership club. he deserves nothing more than the £8k a week he was on, IMO.

This could be that he his looking for a safety net should a move to a premier club collapse but he has often stated that he is happy here and may be thinking of some of his former colleagues that have discovered the grass really isnt greener? I hope its the latter and in all fairness to him at least he has not demanded to be the highest paid player at the club like some other players might have done.
I would sign him back up on 14k, its still high wages but he is good enough to play at a high level. Choker? Did you see that goal against QPR?!
At the moment we need to sign a centre midfielder (Wildig and blake as cover), two wingers (need cover) and two strikers at least. A proven player would be a bonus.

All bothroyd needs a kick up the arse, if the new manager can do that...then Jay WILL be the top scorer next season

For me, its a no brainer. I'd have him back in a heartbeat.
We all know his quality. Just needs to harness it in the right direction.
As an aside, who do you think we could get to replace him. Which will have to be on a free. £14 k a week equals about £728,000 PA. I can't think of anyone.
Just needs to learn to stay off his arse though. Got very irritating.

Up until Christmas he was far and away our best player.
I don't think any player negotiations are going to happen until the new manager is in place, but we need good players and Jay Bothroyd is a really good player.

Money is getting tighter in football and only the very top players can have any hope of squeezing the system further.
I'd like to see a rigid salary cap at CCFC next season. £14K would seem to be at or beyond the limits of such a cap if we were to operate to a budget worthy of the name. What was Blackpool's salary cap set at in 2009/10? Was it £8K?
Subject to a salary cap, the decision on whether to take him back should rest with the new manager.

TWO MINDED HERE
when he plays he is a good player no doubts BUT does he have that to give us week in week out this season
after the last 6 months i would be fine if he had walked n signed elseshwere he had lost his way in giving anything on the field - the England call up ruined him - his head was too big - he thought he was a cut above everyone - and that prem teams would be screaming out for him
oh how wrong he was and maybe THAT is because they had all seen what we had to watch week in week out on the pitch and that was half hearted efforts and no desire
if he is offered any sort of contract by us then it has to be on bonus related - he needs a bloody good jolt into reality yes he is good but he is not god's gift to the game - he has to stand up and into players and stop being a wuss - every team and official know his tactics (shit as they are) and are ready for him to go down - he has to start playing like the player he can be - and needs to proove himself to everyone - WHATEVER team he ends up with
I would have him if he was committed passionate and resepectful week in week out - but can he ?!?!?!
Thu Jun 02, 2011 7:17 pm
he is not worth 9 pound the three years he been with us he as only had a good three months, and that was the start of this season and the reason for that was most teams were so afraid of bellamy they doubled up on him and that give boothroyd more time. lisa snowdon found him out early he is probably a lazy bum in that department aswell

It breaks my heart to see Boothroyd leaving, what a fabulous player, by far the most talented forward in the championship last season!!! No wonder the boy looks disallusioned and downhearted at times playing with some of our lot, he`s on a different frequency.
The fans need to get real and realise that when players like Boothroyd leave theres going to be 1 big huge f*cking gap to be filled. Chopra is a waste of space, Jet did nothing, Olly crop last 2 months.
If anyone can get a better striker for £14k aweek they must be a f*cking magician.
I`d love to see him back, however i have no doubt that where ever he goes he will be a huge success and he will be earning a damn sight more than 14 k per week to
Good Luck Jay what ever happens
You are true class

Are you related to him or something? Although he can display class, there has not been much on display since his England cap.As for the most talented player in the championship then you only need to look as far as Tarabt. Jay is frustrating to watch as he does have class but is not consistent. He has missed many sitters this year and for his size, he is not particularly good in the air.The downsides of his game cancel out his good points. His constant falling down coupled with his petulance which has earned him numerous yelow cards needlessly speaks volumes which is a pity because if he was more consistent then perhaps he might be worthy of your appraisal of him.

14k a week is actually peanuts, considering his ability and form for most part of the season!! Very strange to see that he wants to come back! No one will want to pay those wages!!
Fri Jun 03, 2011 8:37 am
I can see why fans would not want Jay back but if there is a chance to pick up a centre forward who scored 20 goals last season at this level without having to pay 2-3 million then the new manager would be mad to dismiss him without talking to him ?
Meanwhile we have other players allegedly on more money than Jay still at our club who performed far less than he did last season
Fri Jun 03, 2011 10:48 am
Can we not sign him up on a 3/4 year contract and give him 'til Jan? If he still looks like he can't be fucked then he could be offloaded in the January transfer window for £3m+. At least then we'd get something for him, at the moment he's a free agent.

bothroyd was one of the biggest bottlers at the club to me if he scored early he d seem to think that his job was done he wernt to interested in going on to get 2 or 3 and anyway i d like to see a target man putting the defender on the floor because he never did ,most frustrating player for me last year,i bet mothercare in cardiff gutted he was released
