I remember people saying similar when BBM decided to let Ralls go. They said we'd regret it.

Spoiler alert - we didn't.

There's a difference here - Ralls was 32 and had spent most of the previous 2 years on the treatment bench. Wintle has just swept the board with POTY accolades after glueing our midfield together last season. He's also in his prime at 28 years old.
No comparison with Ralls!

That was different. Ralls was injury prone and in the twilight of his career. Wintle isn't injury prone and in the prime of his career.

I 100% believe this is bbm,s decision, he doesn't need to panda to tan , his stock is high he could probably walk into the burnley job if he wanted , I think bbm is in a very strong position here and won't take anyone messing with the football side of things

I think it was BBMs decision

The club offered Robinson and Etete new deals so I would be shocked if they wanted Wintle gone

They probably told BBM that he could only sign 2 of the 3 out of contract and he chose to move on Wintle because of his age

I could be wrong but that's what I suspect

He is also certainly someone I wouldn't want in a more likely bottom end scrap. A Plymouth/Luton etc will be a good move.

I doubt he'll join a club that finishes above us, put it that way...

Strong management, whoever made the call.

Thanks for last season Ryan. Good luck.

Its a very strange player to get rid of even keep as a good substitute, but if wintle has gone and turnbull stays my head I think will fall off.

BBM is Welded to Peps system and an upgrade on Wintle is going to cost.

Fernandinho, Rhodri and Busquets at Barca were tall, quick, athletic, aggressive, defensive with great first touch. Wintle is a Btec version of those.
Robertson is too small and doesn't have gears
Turnbull is tall but that's it
Its a bit of a leap to believe that King can jump straight into the most important position in the system.
Joel hasn't the first touch, he is a runner
Mafico needs L1 football first, is small

So i am guessing that he must have someone lined up or he sees King as the heir apparent

Interesting as this is a bigger call than Ralls who even his fans (me) could see his best days were far behind him. BBM has credit in the bank, so I trust him

"Spoken like a true prodigy" llan Bluebird. I think your bang on here.

Anyone guess the film that line is off?

I am disappointed to see Wintle leave, like many of us he had an outstanding season, and as a former defender, I appreciated the role he played in front of the back 4, and his quick tidying-up approach, a really good number 6 in League 1.

There is obviously more to this than we know - there are two sides to every negotiation, and we just don't know what each respective position was, so pointless to speculate really.

I am grateful to Wints for what he's done for the club - I really enjoyed seeing him play, and great our final memory of him is the truly brilliant season 2025/26 :bluebird:

Wake up guys, Tan makes the decisions :banghead:

100%

This is a board deck due to his wages .

BBM can get who he wants in as long as it stays in his small budget.

One of our best players without a doubt.

No need for the out of his control part in his post though is it?

I think it’s massively disrespectful towards the club and us fans all he needed to do is thank the club and fans wish us well etc.

Shows the character that has been highlighted in the past with him having a dig like that.

He was fantastic last season I think league 1 is his level he was poor in championship for us.. fingers crossed BBM got someone lined up but he is a big admirer of Eli King and lot in the camp at the awards said he is one of the best in the middle of the park in training.

Just his way of saying it wasn't his decision. Nothing disrespectful about that.

On your other point, he wasn't as good in the championship for us but that was under bulut, most of our players were rubbish under bulut but under BBM he's been fantastic and would have been in the championship too under BBM.

I wouldn’t moaned if he had a 1 year extension as on the basis of last season I think everyone could say it was deserved.

I think it’s disrespectful on the basis BBM and the club could argue differently so leave what happened in regards to negotiations behind closed doors, I’d like to think he didn’t mean it in a disrespectful way but was definitely unnecessary to add that in.

We'll agree to disagree. Just his way of telling the fans he didn't want to leave. Lots of players do the same in that situation.

I'm sure if BBM or the club took offence or wanted to tell their side of the story they certainly could do but I doubt any offence was taken by either.

The second part I can agree with <O>

The point is that these are both players that fans say we would regret releasing.

I trust BBM's judgement on this and would also point out that many fans have said that Wintle was fine for L1 but not Championship, as much as I would have kept Wintle personally.

I also have no doubt that this is BBM's decision. Ng is on more money than Wintle and is older so if anyone was not going to have their contact renewed because of high wages, it would have been Ng - but we know Ng is staying.

I have a feeling bbm wants a bigger more athletic number 6 to be first choice I wonder if we will re kindle our interest in a certain hull midfielder if they win the playoffs saturday

NG isn't older, he's 28, 29 next month I believe, whereas RW was 30 last month.

Perry Ng is 30, Ryan Wintle is nearly 29.
