In the UK, he's a nobody, so why the fuss?

He's not even a politician Alan, just a loud mouth youtuber who had to debate college kids because debating adults was too difficult. You're not alone in wondering why the fuss in any country never mind the UK, if only there was 10% of this fuss made over school kids getting shot while they're in school, not to mention actual politicians being assassinated on their doorsteps.

I’m actually shocked at some of the ignorance shown in this thread, and anyone who writes Charlie Kirk’s assassination off as ‘of no interest to the UK’, is not seeing the bigger picture in world politics!

Some pretty stupid statements in the mix above and my own lack of full understanding on the matter has kept me out of it for now, but what I will say (now I’m here) is that Charlie Kirk, of whom I have little or no opinion on as a person or speaker, did not deserve to die like that, nor did his family deserve to lose their loved one to a mixed up ‘drop out’ kid, who (seemingly) gained his hatred through a lack of information, whilst gratifying himself on the dark web!

Despite what some say, this assassination will have a profound effect on US politics going forward; particularly with a narcissistic, perpetually lying (near) octogenarian chasing his own selfish agenda at huge cost to US national security, civility, and cohesion

And furthermore, it gobsmacks me that a thread like this can cover three (so far) pages, whilst the good news of our manager and one of his players winning important monthly awards, hardly got a response!

I’m not against ‘off topic’ threads, but when they’re seemingly more important that the football topics on which this great Forum is built, it’s maybe time for some to look for pastures new to let their (apparent) political frustrations (real or perceived) off?! :(

Ironic he was debating about gun massacres in schools when shot!

Where are all the free speech advocates now? Seemingly cancel culture affects everyone.

Love seeing all those crazy lefties getting sacked and losing their home, after laughing and bad comments about another human being killed.

This murderer was a messed up 22 year old

He wasn't part of some organised LEFTY plot to kill people he disagreed with , he was just as likely to shoot his parents or shoot kids in a playground

The idiots laughing at kirks murder are just pathetic and sad , nothing to do with most people out there and certainly not typical of socialists or commies or lefties

Idiots and mad people do dangerous things all the time , the people who have killed left wing politicians in America and here might well have been right wing in their thinking or there was evidence that they were but they kill others because they are dangerous or evil or ill in the head

Being left or right wing doesnt mean you are more likely to punch someone or shoot them if they dont agree with you ;)

Theres always been occasional politics chats on here at the last election there were loads, what happened to Kirk was bad news but to hear crap like typical left wing types when it was a seriously unbalanced 22 year old ....from a right wing family.....is bound to get people disagreeing

Its your job as a moderator to deal with occasional things like this , if there was a separate forum for tit's, beer , music and politics then it could go on there but there doesnt seem any point as this forum is almost 100 percent Cardiff City

I dont think anyone deserves to be killed in the way he was but like Facebook and other social media you have people saying it was a typical left wing thing which is daft as murderers and violent people come from all political backgrounds

Thats probably why this thread has gone on longer than a few lines of how bad it was , I cant understand anyone wanting to watch a video of someone being murdered or suggesting it was typical lefty etc etc

Her 31 year old husband and father of their young children got murdered for debating, by a crazy lefty, who clearly had such a weak argument he had to resort to violence.

So whatever your trying to imply is just wrong.

He wasn't a crazy lefty , he was a 22 year old drop out in a messed up relationship who spent all his time on weirdo sites on the internet and his father and family were trump right wingers

Kirk loved a dust up , lots of videos of him losing his cool and putting people down , he was certainly not a goody two shoes

His death was horrible but his wife was very odd in my opinion , It just didn't seem at all normal , almost like she was acting

Maybe that's just typical of America ....the FBI fella saying " we got him " like something out a Hollywood film and that Patel fella , both odd

Thats my opinion

He wasn’t though was he, he went through a lot of planning and effort to kill one specific person out of thousands.
Why didn’t he pick of more if he is likely to kill random people?

Of course he was crazy

So were those that have killed left wing Democrats in America over the years

And they were older than this kid ....and at 22 he was a kid ....so the point of this is dangerous people come from all backgrounds ....young old , black white , left and right

Interesting that nobody on here is defending Jimmy Kimmel's right to freedom of speech.

Just read up on what he said after seeing your message. It really wasn’t anything that bad to get cancelled. The world’s going mad.

He was a lefty. He was also in a relationship with a trans. That’s why he targeted Charlie Kirk because he was against giving trans certain rights. His father turned him in. That’s my understanding of it all anyway.

The country has gone mad & free speech is okay as long as it's in favour of one side, anything else is now hate speech. The problem with Kimmel is that the FCC started threatening ABC/Disney and they caved because they didn't want to lose their license, the FCC is made up of 4 republicans chosen by trump & 1 other but they're allegedly independent.

What he said was the sort of thing that has been okay since late night shows started but not anymore. It will be the last 2 late night hosts next, they've already been threatened by you know who.

I've just read that trump has suggested the UK should use troops at the border. Thoughts on that?

Nobody knows anything & it's all rumours & speculation that may well end up being true, or not. One of his roommates is trans but says there was no relationship, again who knows but there is no evidence he's a "lefty", whatever that is supposed to mean. It depends what you read, I also read he was even further right like his parents & didn't think CK was far enough to the right but who knows.

He may just be a mixed up crazy kid who thought this was a good idea. We just don't know.

I'm pretty neutral on Kimmel and haven't watched his show much (used to watch Jimmy Fallon's show) so I don't know if it's that different to the stuff he normally says. But as has been said above, what he said isn't worth him losing his show for. It wasn't really that bad, whatever the political situation above him.

He's the second late night talk show host to have gone recently, along with Colbert.

And you're right, they'll be going after Jimmy Fallon and Seth Myers next.

As for the comment about using the military, I watched the press conference and it was just a throwaway comment from Trump. It actually went as well as it could for Starmer, with no major disagreements. Trump was in a "disagree agreeably" mood thankfully.

The craziest part of the press conference was Trump saying "I don't know him actually" about Peter Mandelson.
