Can we get one thing straight at least?? I only speak for myself, NOBODY from what I have read, are saying anything bad regarding sol the man, player etc, so to say its poor form for expressing a view on this matter, unless siding 100% on sols side, is imho wrong, there are always 2 sides to a story, and I'll go on record now and say, if its true, then the club has shown very poor form indeed.
My brother in law many years back, got his dream job, three months later, he got cancer, couldnt perform his new role, what do you think happened? He lost his job, the company paid him a years salary, in goodwill, but that is a rarity, and that was it.as people have alluded to, the club stood by him through his treatment & recovery, if they hadn't it would have been disgusting imho.
We cannot as has been said, create a role out of nothing, and imho, MM has had a big say in that, whether through feeling threatened as has been suggested, or simply because he trusts what is already in place?
We all would have liked him to stay on in some capacity, of that im quite sure, but its not us paying the wages.
Finally, GOOD LUCK TO THE MAN, AND AS HAS BEEN SAID, HE WILL GET MY FULL RESPECTS, ON HIS RETURN.CCFC.

When players stay loyal to a football club over 3 years in todays football they should be treated better.
Sol was not just a class player for us he was loyal and wore the shirt with pride and then to go through what he did with cancer he deserves much better from this club but I am not shocked with the people who run our club.
Sol says he was told straight by MM again not surprised but the club should have dealt with it better than putting it on Twitter

Did we ever turn down any bid for Sol? Its easy to say loyal, if nobody had shown an interest with a bid for his services??
If, as you say MM Told Sol straight, then thats a normal thing to do? after all, he is the manager.

100% he should have been treated with a bit more respect, assuming he wasn't as we are only hearing one side of the story as has been alluded to.
I don't 100% agree with all of Sols comments though to be honest.

Once again we have some people who are using what Tan did almost 10 years ago (but changed back 7 years ago) as a stick to beat the club with. I won’t profess to understand how people can still be hurt by something that has long since been resolved, but it’s so predictable, tiring and creates division as the narrative is SO unbalanced.
As I said yesterday, if true of course Sol should never have found out this way - but he also says Mick made it clear that he didn’t see a role for him at the club, so it clearly was the level of shock that Sol is making out. He much have had some idea on it.
The criticism that I would level at the club is that if they really believed that Sol had a future at the club in coaching, they should have overridden Mick’s decision for the long term benefit - but then some would just try and claim that as ‘proof’ that the board get too involved in the dressing room!!

I have messaged you exactly the truth.
awful, but you can’t even compare to Sol Bamba after his illness
Sad your still clutching at straws to do Sol Bamba very sad
Do you believe Sol Bamba should have been given a new contract simply based on the fact he had recovered from Cancer?
Or should the decision on a new contract been based only on whether he was worth a new contract playing wise, i.e. his worth to the squad?
I believe fully that the only judgement is whether he can contribute to the squad and that would be highly unlikely. The club looked after him whilst he was ill and paid him until he recovered i.e. they honoured their duty of care to the player.
Also isn't it a little hypocritical to state that we should give a contract to a Cancer survivor who would-not play much when you moan constantly about Vassell and Tomlin who never play due to injury and take huge salaries out of the club?
If you want the club run properly (as do I) then there are times when difficult decisions have to be made. Put frankly I don't want my season ticket money wasted on a player who can't offer value for money.
As for the handling of the situation then lets wait until the club gives its version of what happened before pointing fingers.
Sol Bamba should of been given an offer as for me he was actually willing to take low wages and as a player coach I personally believe we had a great future manager, my view.
As Sol was so ill and had gone through hell and back he should not to have had to find out via Twitter their was no place for him at Cardiff City that’s why I am upset.
No respect given.
But then No player should find out via Twitter anyway.
Agree with you on this Annis. It would have been wise to offer Sol a reduced contract, keep him around as someone who knows the club and would be a big asset. He would have been great off the field and been a useful squad member in it. However if the club didn’t feel he was required, then have a proper talk with him and do it the right way.

"I had conversations about me staying at the club long-term, looking after the under-23s and a bit with the first team," Bamba explains. Well David Hughes was appointed to that role November 9th 2020, Plus Steve Morison joined in Feb 2020.
Plus, there's Tom Ramasut. So as MM explained there was no vacancy.
If the club had given Sol a playing contract along with Joe Bennet plus the injury prone players Tomlin and Vassell that would be somewhere in the region of 80k a week on players who were unlikely to feature. With FFP and the effects of covid that is clearing unrealistic.
Cardiff City is a business not a charity.
I agree Sol should have been afforded a phone call at least. Not find out on social media
I hope Sol's recovery continues and one day we will see him in a role at The City.

Yes it appears to have been handled poorly, and given the personality involved and his circumstances, City's HR was a little wayward to say the least. That said the decision made was the correct one, a decision which was made on good footballing reasons, the club cannot start inventing jobs for individuals because he are a nice person.
I think i speak for most City fans in wishing Sol all the best for his future and thanking him for the good memories had during his time at Cardiff. As a footnote I think Warnock has not made the decision to give him a contract on footballing reasons purely down to being one of his "favourate sons" now that is not the way to operate, I wonder what the Middlesboro fans think

Agreed.
As others have said, Sol starts by saying he won't have a go at the club and then does exactly that
To be fair to McCarthy he's taken a lot of the responsibility for this. He said that he didn't have a space/role for him in the coaching team and didn't see Sol playing much of a role on the playing side.
It is disappointing that he found out via Twitter but if contract talks had already ended it would hardy have come as a major surprise.
The other thing is that Sol has made it quite clear that he wanted another season playing, he wasn't going to get a look in on that front so that was probably a major factor too.
What's sad is the way that some people on here have, yet again, used such an instance just to have a pop at the owners. It happens under all owners, including the much lauded Hammam. Kavanagh was flown by helicopter in tears to Wigan against his wishes, other have already mentioned Whalley and Cork and there were others.
Did he (Sol)
"have a go..." or did he just state the facts and his personal disappointment?
All I read (and it's semantic) was him answer a question and state his personal disappointment that he wasn't told personally
He'll still get a big warm welcome from me in October; there a re players (one in particular) some on here still defend after they dissed the club far worse

its also a fact { i say also assuming his account turns out to be fact...not sure we know or will ever know } that 3 months into an injury that could well have turned out to be career ending or be bad enough to prevent him getting back to his best....our club agreed to give him a contract extension.{ signed later that year } ...it turned out to be the later with Sol only starting 1 league game in the 27 months we paid him after his injury which was the 6-1 defeat at QPR....
our club did not need to do that...and actually deserve credit and his appreciation ... yet there is no mention....

f*cking heartbreaking, we do so much good then this shot by our board
