Just guessing here, but I have a feeling this nonsense is due to the derby results and our position in the league.

Did they honestly expect Premier League expenditure to stay the same? I don't know of a single club (with the exception of the likes of Newcastle and West Ham etc) that do not significantly reduce Premier League overheads upon relegation.

We have the sale of Andre Ayew to come too, he is not sustainable in this league either. When that comes it won't be ''bad news'', it will be good news that we are able to reduce unsustainable costs. The ''bad news'' was relegation, everything from then are just necessary steps as a result.

How long ago was it Ledley & Ramsey came through?

Point being they won’t have one anymore, no different to our system anyway

Naive response. The POINT is City’s academy is lamentable

Let's forget about this petty squabble and concentrate on supporting the only welsh club which has
a) won the FA Cup,
b) twice been promoted to the Premier League (without the need for a play off lottery),
c) has a recognised international, commercial airport.

Roathi/Roathy, or however your're known these days, just one request....please stick to your own site. 8-)

My guess is someone heard a snippet of a story which is openly discussed with those interested in the future of the Club and put 4+4 and came up with a zillion rumours

''Twice promoted''... and twice relegated each time :laughing6:

What do you mean stick to my own site? I don't own a site. More than happy talking sense on this one among the hyperbole and fantasy tales on here about Swansea.

a) 1927
b) so what?
c) relevance?

The fact is our academy isn’t producing anybody - unless of course it is but the management don’t know youth potential when they see it

Far more sensible view.

I think Cardiff's problem is it is stuck in the past, a past that almost nobody was alive to vividly remember. You need to be looking to the future, actually achieving things and not thinking ''well... we won something almost 100 years ago'' :?

I actually missed the third option first time round. Cardiff City FC do not have an International airport

I think the poster is referring to Rhoose Airport which by the WAGs own admission is costing the taxpayesr of Wales an awful lot of money which could be better spent on reducing dangerously long waiting times and providing more doctors and nurses to treat our aging dependant population. But I digress thats for another topic .

Would be madness if they downgraded. I think we're all slightly envious of their academy success. Ripping all that up would instantly put us ahead of them :occasion5:

Why would it be madness if we downgraded? It costs 3.2m a year to run, there is a reason you have never had Category 1 status - it costs too much money in the Championship. We won't have it again until promoted, nothing has been ripped up.

How has it put you ahead of us? There is a whole generation of football fan (20 years old and under) who have pretty much only known Swansea to be ahead of Cardiff as we have finished above you 9 times out of the last 10 seasons should this season continue the way it looks, I see no real sign of that changing really (regardless if people get annoyed and ban be for saying it).

An airport ffs

Another that is completely confused by what the football club owns and what is in the general vicinity of where they play their football. I don't see many Barnet fans chatting to Liverpool fans and claiming they own Gatwick airport. :laughing6:

Not madness but youve had success with your academy and should you not make promotion this season the more important academy players will become thats a given.

As for the fanbase under 20...your numbers have dropped two seasons in a row, one thing about todays youth in South Wales they are fickle and happily switch allegiances.

They "picked" Swansea because of the success, without success they'll turn away not necessarily Cardiff but to a Premier league team.

I also believe had Cardiff fans started this thread saying it made sense to sell the training ground you'd have cone on saying it was madness.

We had success with the likes of Gylfi, Ben Davies, Bony and Michu too - doesn't mean we should continue that kind of spending in the Championship. I'm not sure what people are expecting. You can't continue Premier League luxuries in the Championship, it just isn't sustainable.

Our attendance this season is solid, it is not supported by ticket sales that happened when we were still a PL club. Yours will also fall 2 years in a row, guaranteed - for the same reasons. That won't change the fact that those young men of today only know Swansea being above Cardiff, so I don't understand how that puts you ahead. That's not a dig, its just how it is. Even those in their mid twenties will be used to that and will have seen far more seasons of us being above you than the opposite should they have started at 10 years old for example.

You believe wrong regarding my opinion on the training ground. Why is it madness? We continue to get to use it and get the cash injection needed to continue to soften the blow of relegation. What is the benefit of keeping it? Surely the benefit of keeping it is so you can sell it.... in times like these?

The jacks heavily invested in their youth setup and reaped the rewards. Cardiff never. We were never going to be able to compete with them. Especially as ours seems to be a shit show. Any talent in our 'catchment area' would have been scouted and poached by them and I have no idea what our scouting system does for the first team never mind the youngsters. Unless they are promoted this season their academy will be downgraded next season to cut costs. Without the resources their chances of scouting and developing players, like they have done in recent years, will be reduced. Hopefully Cardiff and capitalise on that and get a few more local youngsters through. I wont hold my breath though. I just don't think we have the right personnel at the club.

Ben Davies, Joe Allen and Joe Rodon all came to the club prior to the academy being set up. While it is nice to have the Category 1 facility, it’s hardly a dealbreaker. It’s just a luxury.

Newcastle United have a category 3 academy, hardly something that can hold a club back. It can enhance it certainly, but can’t break it.

That's the main point, they won't be getting good young players anymore, they are preparing for the 1st division, there is a massive list of players either on loan or out of contract or who will be sold next season, they are in the shit financially, and don't have owners who will help, it's just selling and cut their cloth accordingly, which will eventually lead to their natural sustainable level, the 2nd division.

That’s recent history, we have players and fans still at the club that are and were very much part of that journey.

When year 2110 comes around and people are still referring to this time then something has gone very wrong indeed.

2. Your attendance has dropped, its a discussion amongst swans fans on your own forum, to call it solid is merely dismissing it.

3. You mention cardiffs attendances dropping..... Did i say they didn't? Its a given.
