Exactly even though I didn't imagine he'd be on that much. It'll be far too much for Tan to ok. And I hope he does not and this is just a groundless rumour.

tbf loads of sites reporting he's signed a 100k a week deal with watford, loads saying he's still on 50k, if he's on the latter can see it happening but who knows

watford papers reporting he's on 100k as below (The times originally reported he's on the 100k, and lots of other papers have quoted him as being on 100k probably based on that)

http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/1 ... mie_Vardy/

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/deen ... -n63d73gl6 -
'Deeney’s five-year deal, worth £100,000 per week, is easily the biggest in Watford’s history'

probs includes bonuses if true and like you say all hearsay either way but that's the figure I've seen more than any other, if there's any sense left in football its all bollocks though!

yeah well if the 100k figure is true there no way we can afford even close to that, so thatll be the end of it,

You get the feeling that someone somewhere is having a right good laugh at our expense. If he's on that kinda money the only way it would happen is a loan where Watford would still pay 70% of his wages.

Surely Neil won’t upset the apple cart? No one at the club will be in half of what he’s on, that’s a bad start.
Besides, surely we need to go for an experienced midfielder more? Our front four are all pacy, hoilett, Reid, Murphy and zohore, we need the creator to supply them.....

Very negative comment.
It's not easy for any team stepping up to the Premiership at first and others have found it impossible sometimes so it's easy for uncommitted observers without much direct knowledge of the Club to write them off.
I think you must have been listening to these self appointed experts who also wrote off Cardiff City for promotion and predicted that Liecester City would be mullered.
I view the matter very differently and, whilst we've got to feel our way a bit at first - maybe the whole season, there's no reason to doubt the ability of the team and manager to become established at that level . We have very good professional footballers and one of the most knowledgeable managers anywhere, as well as an owner who at this moment in time clearly intends to create a first class club.
In short, it's not going to be easy but it's most definitely do - able.

Now, I've got mixed feelings about Troy Deeney. He's a truly excellent player who can certainly do the job, but I worry that he could be disruptive - he's got a contraversial history off the field, although that might be behind him. I know that he's regularly seen round Watford and North London in unimaginably expensive cars hob-Knobbing with boxing champions and enjoying a very lavish lifestyle Although it's important to note that his reputation is universally one of generosity and approachability by the fans .
How much will he like it if he gets left out of the team now and again ?

Having said this, in a perfect world , if we could get him plus Dan Gosling and, ideally one other solid midfielder, ( possibly from abroad ), we'd be sorted 100% technically and in theory well able to give any team in the premiership a realistic run during a game .

It's not a perfect world of course, so we probably won't accrue a squad quite like that, but even if we don't get one more player we are NOT going to be anyone's pushover.

Deeley May be a good fit but will have little resale value, for 15m we should be able to get better? Rondon at £12m?

Rondon has a release clause of 16.5 million.
Why do you think 12mill would get him? I think he has bigger fish to fry than us regardless.

dont quite get the resale value thing tbh...only 15 months dif in ages..Deeney has the better goals per game ratio in the prem...and should we be needing to recoup in a years time its how either performs nxt season will be the biggest factor in any transfer fee anyway..?

That'd make sense. I read somewhere last week that Watford were trying to find someone to have him fir £10m because they simply can't afford his wages, which are apparently the same as Harry Kane's.
Therefore I did wonder how it went up £5m by the time Cardiff City came in.

Very good thinking there W3 ! It also puts it into context and makes the whole story a bit more plausible.

I’m told by a very good source that Troy Deeney to Cardiff City is NOT happening. Search for a midfielder still the priority.

I agree personally, pleased the transfer window closes before our first match.

Thankfully there’s only just over a week to go before we’ll know our full squad until January.

Not really. We're able to do business abroad aren't we ? Or is that just sales ? :thumbright:

Glad deeney deal off, rondon to newcastle off aswell.
Rondon has a 18.5mill clause i would test wba with a cheeky 14.5 with a 4mil top up if we stay up but i would prefer the rest of budget on a creative midfielder to be honest.

After 5 p.m. on 9 August Premier League clubs cannot sign any more players (either permanently or on loan) until the next transfer window in January 2019.
However , because their own transfer window doesn`t close until 31 August , other European leagues can still buy players until then.

A loan is wdely favourite and I believe it will go down to the wire.
Midfield is where we need additional resource . It wouldn't surprise me if an announcement is made by end of tomorrow...just a hunch.
