Our team then had to make a very long journey to play a lot of pundit's favourites for automatic promotion, whilst Middlesbrough on the other hand, haven't played a game for 10 days and have only just returned from warm weather training!

The team flew up to the north east what is it 45 mins on a plane?? Not a very long journey then!

Doesn't make up for the fact that Boro haven't played for 10 days and been carrying out warm weather training abroad, whilst our boys must have been worn out after Saturday's exertions!

We're Brighton worn out after Saturday because we run them all over the park,? no they won 4 zip tonight. Can't say the team was tired that's laughable they are professional sportsmen. What you can say is we were beaten by a much better side and I will take that.

Brighton have just smashed a team who also played on Saturday, against a team who are floundering at the wrong end of the table, whilst we played in a pissing down gale on Saturday, whilst Boro had 10 days off sunning themselves!

Spot the difference!

Yes and we know all about playing teams floundering at the wrong end of the table do you remember the mk dons and Charlton games? not easy games are they, or do you not remember because you have only just woke up. Keep digging that trench fella. :-D

Don't know what planet you're on Butty, but there's no easy game in this league and the only point I was making is that tonight's game was always going to be difficult enough and against a team who haven't played for 10 days and who've been abroad doing warm weather training, whilst our boys slogged it out with one of the best teams in the league in a storm last Saturday, made the task although not impossible, far more difficult!

I never said there was easy games in this league you were the one talking about teams floundering at the wrong end of the table and was expected to be smashed by Brighton tonight. Middlesbrough were there for the taking tonight they had not won in five games and were on a terrible run, I'm just not buying the excuse cardiff were tired they have had enough practice of playing sat and then Tuesday it's been going on for as long as I can remember for all teams In the football league. Boro were the better team end of, and if it wasn't for Marshalls penalty save the score would of been higher.

The mention of teams floundering at the wrong end of the table was in response to you comparing Brighton beating Bristol City (Who are floundering btw) to our demise against one of the League's most favourite teams for automatic promotion, which I can't see how you can compare the matches together! I didn't mention that Brighton were expected to smash Bristol City BTW either!

Whether you buy Cardiff being tired or not and yes I accept that teams in this league are used to playing Saturday, Tuesday then Saturday again on a regular basis, it's not so common that one team plays on a Saturday, then again on a Tuesday, whilst the other team gets 10 days off and goes abroad to sun themselves!

it's a fact that managers are always complaining that their opponents get to have 4 days off between matches, whilst their own team only get 3 days rest, so when one team only gets 2 full days off and the other team hasn't exerted themselves for 10 days, then I think it's naive to believe that tiredness didn't play some part in tonight's defeat, especially after the effort our team put in on Saturday!

I think Boro had the luxury of jetting off because they were due to play a team that was still involved in the fa cup was it hull or reading I think. Can't fault them for taking advantage of that. And yes they would of been fresher than cardiff but I don't think it mattered tonight Boro were far better technically for cardiff. Too many city mistakes at the back mainly.

I certainly wasn't blaming Boro for jetting off and it was definitely down to the FA Cup that they managed to get such a big break from football, but after the run they'd been on, that break clearly appears to have come at the right time for them and whilst Boro may well have been technically better than us tonight, we were far better technically than Brighton on Saturday, so to play so below the level we did last time out, only leads me to believe that Boro had more of a freshness about them and that may well have made the big difference between the 2 teams!

Russell Slade bemoaned his side's inability to hold on to the lead after gifting Boro an equaliser at the Riverside.

The home fans were stunned after Brazilian full-back Fabio fired a rocket into the top corner to hand the visitors the initiative on Teesside, but the Bluebirds failed to take advantage and handed Boro a leveller just five minutes later when Matthew Connolly kneed the ball into his own net.

From that moment on, Boro were in control and made their dominance count in the second half thanks to goals from Gaston Ramirez and David Nugent.

Slade had no complaints about the result but was furious with the fashion in which his side gifted Boro the leveller.

“It was a fantastic goal from Fabio, a wonder-goal, to get us in front,” said Slade.

“But we almost conspired even before they equalised, to help them, to give them a lift and get back in the game.

"Scott Malone has given the ball away on the halfway line and you can’t afford to do that against teams of this calibre away from home. That happened for the third goal, we gave it away, you can’t do that, you have to make the right decisions and choices.

“The defence really was not at its best, they’ve set a really good standard, we’ve had a bit of momentum with us over the last few weeks, they did not really set the standards they set themselves. They will be disappointed with that."
