However the restaurant are a bit pathetic making this man have to get permission from management to wear a different apron, especially as some posters have questioned the need for this. To be he did ask beforehand if he could wear it and he obviously thought he was okay to do so.

I can assure you mate, the state on some of the restaurant aprons I've seen, it would actually be more hygienic if staff would told to wash and bring their own. I very much doubt that such a thing would be in the employees handbook

I suppose your right but also the fact remains this isn't even a story because he hasn't been sacked and they want him back

i believed the story because I did'nt think anyone would be sad enough to make false accusations about such a sensitive subject. If the statement released by the restaurant is correct, this is one very sick individual, and I feel that I must be almost as sad for believing it in the first place. Don't suppose we'll ever know for certain, but I cannot see why anyone would make up such a story, and I also see no reason not to believe the restarant's version of events.

Agree with you completely, I saw no reason not to believe the OP. I still won't eat there though cos last time I went there, it wasn't that good, but that's another story.

The moment the OP didn't reply to my question whether he had their reasoning in writing then I had my doubts. Surely if something like that was said to you asking them to put it in writing would be the very first thing you'd say wouldn't it ?

What is the disgrace Annis is that the opening poster and his nephew totally misled readers of the board by putting what have since been proved to be total lies for reasons which only they will know - self publicity , attention seeking or just mischief?

Not this board`s fault that it was posted here , but it does show how some posters reacting to it just jumped on the bandwagon agreeing with what was claimed before even thinking of waiting for the true position to be revealed. Some of the more racist element even managed to twist it to bring in a Muslim angle ffs.

I just hope that the opening poster and his nephew have the good grace to repost with an apology for misleading people.

As I say , not sure what you can do to prevent such posts in the future - I don`t think you can really - but maybe you could ask the opening poster and/or his nephew to print a retraction of what he claimed?

Claims he was sacked even though he walked out and the restaurant have asked him to come back in their statement.

Looks like the truth was out before the statement was made. Uniforms are there for a reason, expessually in a kitchen. Looking forward to his statement now considering he still has a job.

It's why I never respond to threads like this or lynch mobs on Facebook. Winds me up how everyone jumps in two footed before the whole story is out. There are people who have been accused of paedophilia through Facebook, word has spread and they have killed themselves because of it. Horrible side of social media.

As a serving member of the Armed Forces I have sold poppies in uniform and was delighted by the response to poppies and what it stands for. I was also delighted to sell them alongside Muslim groups. However, the stick people get for not wearing one makes me angry. The whole point of it is that people died to give people the choice for things like this. To castigate those for not wearing a poppy defeats the object of what they stand for.

What if he was sacked they will say whatever to please the public only him and the powers that be at the place know what went on, nobody knows on here by the guy himself.

I don't think many would castigate someone for not wearing a poppy. I think plenty would castigate someone who prohibited the wearing of a poppy, although it appears that this was'nt the case with this person.

Steve (Tenerife Blue) is a good guy, so I would expect that he didn't know the full story here - probably going by what his nephew had told him.

As for the guy who was "sacked", I can not understand? He clearly has a lot of respect for those who died, but not enough respect to stop him using it as something to make him famous for five minutes? The revelation that he was recently on Jeremy Kyle adds to this.

Feel sorry for the restaurant in this instance, as they shouldn't have any bad words said about them over this.

I've updated the thread now to include the restaurant's statement.

James McLean gets constant shit for not wearing a poppy. Sienna Miller got loads of shit for not wearing a poppy.

Just two examples of people going OTT.

Re: " UPDATED RE: POPPY APRON "

Can I just say to you lot out there, the only reason the restaurant has put out a statement saying that my nephew was not sacked was because they are afraid of reprocusions, for those of you that believe what the restaurant has said then more fool you. If not in the habit of making stories up as I have nothing to gain from it. My nephew WAS told to leave because he was wearing an apron with Poppy's on it that was offensive to the owner who is Iranian. He never walked out, he was told to leave. Make of that what you will. They have asked my nephew to go back only because of the amount of bad publicity they are getting from social media networks, media and radio.
The investigation is still on going so please don't call me or my nephew a liar or to the sad few of you saying that we are attention seeking until you know all the facts. I will not discuss this with anyone on here anymore as its in full swing behind the scenes. I hope I have answered some of the questions that have been put on here but if you want to ask anymore then pm me by all means. I've been in work yesterday and up to now so haven't had the opportunity to answer you.
Thank you for reading.

There's only one way to prove this either way. Another lie detector test on the Jeremy Kyle show.

There's two sides to every story Steve and having been involved in PR for a long time I have first hand knowledge of a lot of companies who will lie their tits off when under pressure, confident that people will usually believe an organization rather than an individual. Its amazing how quickly they get off their arse when threats to boycott get slung around!

Whatever the facts, I hope your nephew gets back to work quickly. Its the wrong time of year for anyone to be out of work

thing is facts are hard to come by. You yourself wasnt there either i imagine? so you do not have hold of the whole facts of what happened, but you choose to support and believe a family member, which is of course completely understandable.
