^^^^. Important point Dando!!

It seems that these teenagers want to be considered as adults, but then pull the young age "card" when things go wrong.

Truth is that if they need to be children, take their parents!!!

Do 11 year olds travel to away games unsupervised?... this is a genuine question, because I'd be a bit shocked if they did.

Many in this thread have jumped on the back of this teenager, at first I was going to defend him, my thinking is that you just don't leave teenagers stranded like that.. you just quickly jump off the bus and give them a bollocking and get them back on the bus sharpish (maybe 5 mins late). However, it seems quite clear that Vince Alm went to lengths to make it clear to everyone there wasn't time for queuing for burgers and went into W H Smith's too.

The coach HAD to leave on time due to time constraints, I think the important factor here is that Vince Alm knew there would be another coach to take these teenagers home. Their little asses must have been twitching when they saw the coach pulling away, but the bottom line is THEY failed to adhere to what they were told AND Vince knew they'd be taken home on another bus.

... important life lesson learnt for these young lads.

When I was 17 I use to go to away games in 2nd hand well worn tansit fans. We considered it lucky if we managed to get back home that weekend. many times the poor vans broke down leaving in the middle of nowhere.

[b]Today these young ones want everything on a place, luxury air conditioned travel, 5 star service stations and they whinge about missing the time slot. These youngsters of today are turning out to be a right bunch of poofs.[b/][/quote]

they didnt say they wanted any of that. just not for a bunch of basically children to be knowingly left in a random services.

oh btw, classy use of an outdated homophobic slur....keeping it mature as ever baked

the kid was obviously in the wrong but i feel he'd have got a lot less stick if he hadn't mentioned his age.

it seems any time someone on this board mentions they are a young person all the "old guard" seem to think its a crime in itself and give them so much shit, i've seen it way to many times and its pathetic, this "kids today..." attitude makes you look like a bunch of sad old men.

is it not entirely possible that this young lad didn't make the bus in time because he's an idiot? or ignorant? and not because he's a teen

Or maybe I had been told not to que up for food in the services (Hilton Park?) on the way up there, then I was unable to get food before the game due to the delays, the all I could get at half time was a bag of crisps. So I hadn't eaten really since the morning. So maybe I was taking a f*cking chance to get something to eat, and considering at the last service station I saw others queuing up I thought Id give it a go.

I thought teenagers just wanted to be treated normally, you know, like people,.

Don't have a go at the youngsters just because your now no longer "young". Jealousy is a deplorable trait.

Not wanting to add fuel to the flames but what if the person has a medical condition and is a few minutes late due to using the toilet or whatever? Just wondering that's all. We've all been there in the past in being a few minutes late, that's why I go on to train or get on a local transit now, saves the hassle of events like this. Can see both sides of the coin.

then i'd imagine they'd make the coach driver/trip organiser aware of this beforehand to make allowances as i doubt that would be the first time this was an issue.

Cannot fault the work Vince Alm et al do to help fans of our clubs attend games. I've heard some right stories about how they've been let down, screwed over, and had to deal with idiots that it makes me have an unlimited amount of respect for what they do.

In this instance, it's a simple case of a group of young lads not listening to instructions and now being pissed off because they have to suffer the consequences. It is a life lesson. I am amazed Vince even gave this topic the time of his day to reply so credit to him for that. I appreciate that the original poster must have been pissed off but by the sounds of how events played out there really is no case for defence in not getting back to the coach in time, particularly given the reminders that were shouted out.

Some people really do need to understand how operations like these away trips work to avoid having something like this happen to them. Whether it's 2 minutes or 20 minutes, the fact you lads were the only ones who weren't back on the bus in time says it all. Just suck it up and accept you ballsed up. It's all part of growing up.

Erm, you certainly DID "slag off" in your OP, fella, and I have watched with interest at the responses since...

Basically, you didn't adhere to the organiser's request and suffered the consequences of your (a) ignoring simple instruction, and/or (b) your total disregard for the the others on your coach!

Seen it so many times in the past and (being honest) have wished so many times for the bus to pull off and leave the selfish stragglers behind!

As one says above, if it were a GENUINE reason to extend the stop then the organisers would both understand and make allowances for this!

Hopefully lesson learned and always assuming you are allowed on another trip (which I personally would NOT allow after this) you might consider your own actions and their consequences if you THINK you can do what YOU want when you want, because as this incident shows YOU CLEARLY CANNOT!

Glad it happened to you. You just MIGHT be a little more cooperative in the future; although I have my doubts judging by the ill-judge OP and your ill-thought 'justification' of it since!
