Egypt have reported that they destroyed over 1,700 tunnels under the boarder alone so f**k knows how many are actually within the whole strip and what they are under like hospitals, schools etc.

It depends on when you decide this 'started'. As some others have said it is very complex and goes back way beyond the formation of Hamas. It would also help if people didn't constantly equate opposition to the decisions of the Israeli government with anti-semitism. It is pathetic, and ignores the large numbers of Jewish people across the globe who are also campaigning against the actions of the Israeli government.

This stage of the conflict began in April after the Hamas-Fatah agreement to set up a National Unity Government across the Palestinian territories. The Israeli response was to end all talks with Palestinians, tighten the blockade on Gaza (the biggest open air prison in the world), arrest hundreds of Hamas supporters and kill a number of Palestinian youths.

The murder of the 3 Israeli boys has been put at Hamas' door. They deny it. It was probably done by one of the semi-autonomous groups that have a loose link with Hamas but dont act on their orders. Hamas started firing their rockets in response to the Israeli attacks on Gaza and their supporters. I don't agree with Hamas, I don't support them, but I can see why they do the only thing they think they can do to resist. I think they are wrong morally and tactically to keep firing the rockets, but no way are Hamas the initiators of this latest round of murder in Gaza (and a couple of victims in Israel)

Someone above rubbished the idea that Israelis woke up one morning and decided to bomb Palestinians. I don't think that idea is rubbish at all. It is part of a deliberate political strategy to destabilise the Palestinian political/military groups and to undermine the international 'peace plan' that is painfully slowly moving towards a (probably unstable) 2 State Solution. There seems to be an expression in Israeli government circles for waking up one morning - every couple of years - and deciding to bomb Palestinians. According to the Israeli ambassador to the USA it is called 'mowing the grass'.
