Yep ordered to pay back $100m i think or there abouts.

As i said, im not interested in the morals behind his actions or indeed commenting on his sentencing or TV show walk offs, im not bothered, doesnt interest me. im interested in the innovation behind his implemented plans. He is an incredible businessman and one if the most innovative that the stock market has ever seen so much so Scorsese dedicated a film documenting his life. He is a one off and someone we probably wont see the like of again.

there are no good morals behind his actions.just greed.by only paying back what he is getting collared for then he appears not to have turned a new leaf over.surely there are better buisnessmen you could use as a scource of inspiration?tbh if he is like he is portrayed and just a fraction of it true it,s probley for the best that we wont see the likes of him again :laughing6:

Not at all, id take it as face value and certainly partake in the game as it would intrigue me. This is a forum, people share their life experiences on a daily basis. Some come on here stating of an illness they have just got, a pet that has died, a holiday they are going on. To suggest i shouldn't mention this is absurd and leads me to think of what reasons could someone possibly object... Ive already touched upon them

i'm off on holiday...guess where?

if got an illness...guess which one?

i know its only a bit of fun and i'm not saying you shouldnt be allowed to (i never once said that yet for some reason it keeps coming up) but it does come across as desperate for attention, especially from someone who when (undeservedly) attacked for posting here constantly spouts "im here just to talk about football"

I had a call from the one and only Jordan Belfort (THE wolf of Wall Street). He is touring Australia doing business seminars and invited me to his Brisbane function on 23rd of June after reading a piece about my business in some locally and recently released business literature. A complete honour.

I can see why you'd be pleased with an invite like that, as it means you (or your business) have been 'noticed'

Just be a little guarded that he may really be looking to prise some business 'tips' from you, mind ;) :laughing6:

Like I said, im not bothered or interested in the morality of his story. Mandela is also someone I respect and he was the leader of a terrorist organisation - however that isnt the part that provokes my respect. If you dislike the sentence handed to mr belfort then by all means show him your distain you are taking it up with the wrong man.

I have many businessmen i hold in high esteem, all for different reasons. Belfort is a brilliant business mind, one of the greatest of modern times. The moral argument is another debate all together and one I have no interest in.

Im one of a few though I believe. However just to get a call like that is a great accolade in my opinion and im very happy indeed whether I end up attending or not. :D

would be a fascinating person to grill face to face though.

i agree most of the time you post well, but thats not why you recieve attention and you know it. you get attention because you're like a bunch of other posters, pedantic, picking up on tiny points and arguing the toss, so a thread which may usually garner a few responses turns in to a huge one. it often gets misread as derailing but it just about stays on topic. you're an intelligent guy, surely you already know this

^not really a critisism, as i say i like your posts and you're right a decent amount of the time.

I completely disagree. Being pedantic is a pet hate of mine and never instigate it in a sensible debate, although may respond to pedanticism as a result.

I am 100% sure that the attention i receive is due to the quality of my posts. They make people think, make people question themselves, makes people re-think what they assume to be true or dismiss as they dont think they would be able to understand. Cardiff is in a mess and naturally a lot of the truths I post wont be easy reading or easy to accept - THAT is why I receive the attention I do and certainly not because someone says "you're not your". :laughing6:

A quick search throws up 6,500 posts containing the word "roathie or roathy" and that isnt even my username.

He is legally obliged to pay $110m and thats exactly what he is doing. But like I said, that part doesnt interest me, its not the reason I respect the bloke. Hitler is a fascinating bloke too and also had a brilliant mind. But to say he doesn't because he killed people is narrow minded and completely missing the point.

But yes if i do go im sure ill find it an interesting experience and opportunity.

It goes to show that the interest in me to the level it is surely cant because i reply to people who decide to say "its you're and not your". In fact i dont even remember the last pedantic debate, the forum has improved in that front. The level of interest in me as a poster is almost wholly down to the content, that much is obvious to me. I fear you arent looking deep into this.

Think of Beckham for example. He is mentioned all the time in papers, not necessarily about his football ability. He cheated on Victoria with Rebecca Loos and had the most column inches dedicated to him in that year than any other celeb in the UK. If he wasnt a good footballer then his infidelity wouldnt be hot news.

I am hot news because im a good poster. If im attacked for a thread such as this, then this isnt the reason im talked about, the reason the subject is talked about at that time is again because im a good poster - others who poated this would not have gathered the same response, just as Muzzy Izzet cheating on his wife wouldnt get the same tongues wagging as our mate becks.

"Defends"? :?

Is that a bit like saying Paul Gascoigne having a brilliant football ability is defending alcohol abuse? Or saying Mandela is a brilliant man is defending terrorism? Come on now, lets not have the Sun style sensationalist rubbish on this forum, it happens too much as it is. :laughing6:

Hitler was a highly intelligent individual and a clever an brilliant leader that could manipulate a whole nation with ease. That is nit defending his actions.

1) it was a joke

2) its debatable how intelligent he was, one very viable theory is that those close to him (in the 5 main offices under him) actually influenced him and executed their own will as a result. for lack of a better phrase they would 'make it seem like his idea all along' obviously its not confirmed, but if you look at the evidence its a really interesting theory. coupled with the circumstances that got him in to power in the first place, its arguable that if he'd done everything he did even a few months earlier or later he would have got no where

Im afraid when you are so straight laced in your posts toward such trivial things that when you do decide to joke - it can easily be misconstrued.

As to Adolf, thats rubbish with respect. His intelligence spews out of his speeches alone they are incredibly telling and his manipulation techniques are still used today in governments far more sophisticated than 1940's Germany . Maybe he was guided in his military decisions but again its a subject I haven't really discussed.

Countless historians say it is the case, roathie disagrees... Must b wrong

If you think Hitler wrote all his own speeches then you probably don't know enough to to continue this discussion

A historian is someone who simply looks at historical archives and draws an opinion. I am a historian in that respect also, one of many (countless as you like to put it) also agree with me. But we must be wrong and you right eh? (See we can both do that and misdirect the watching audience that the majority in fact back my version).

Im amazed i am having a debate about if Hitler was intelligent or not (what were you saying about pedanticism?), he is one of the most gifted leaders of all time and if you think otherwise then you probably dont know enough to continue this discussion. (I can do that one too).

Hitler absolutely was the Author of the vast majority of his speeches in fact there is a historical document from Eva Braun suggesting this. The main content of his speeches and certainly the rhetoric behind them is also documented in personal conversations he had.

But anyway it seems you are becoming a parody in this thread, maybe its best we get back to me seeking attention by simply stating the oretty incredible thing that happened to me today :laughing6:

i didnt say he wasn't intelligent, i said it was debatable how intelligent he was, and debatlable as to how many actions that are attributed to him were his own. at no point did i say it was correct and at no point did i say it was fact. i ACTUALLY said it was interesting.

but no, you couldn't possibly have that could you? theres no way that many qualified (there we go sunshine) historians who have written many acclaimed books on the subject could possibly be on to something because you say so (with little fact) right?

Its not debatable how intelligent he was at all, he was quite clearly very intelligent. I made it clear that his military actions were not taken into consideration, they dont interest me when looking at the mans intellect and leadership qualities.

Are you suggesting that many (actually most sunshine) historians who have written many acclaimed books on the subject are wrong because they happen agree with me? There will always be theories to counter the obvious however to assume they are right because they wrote about it makes your theory ridiculous.

you paying attention? it's coming up!

DEBATABLE!
please shown me where i've assumed they're right? you've assumed they're wrong and that's what i'm arguing with.

look at the parts of your posts i've highlighted in bold and please tell me where i've done those things

But its not debatable. Its like saying its debatable if Messi is a good footballer because some think hes only good because of people around him. I guess you COULD debate it, as you can debate if Aliens took the missing Malaysian Airlines flight or in fact any subject in the world.... However the overwhelming probability is that the answer is the obvious one and thus a waste of time discussing the alternate.

However, It has absolutely nothing to do with this thread or what we were discussing of course.

I had a call that has become a defining moment in my career so far, hitler is intelligent and im one of the most talked about members in this boards history which contributes to such odd responses to perfectly fine threads such as this :thumbright:

its literally nothing like that at all and you know it isnt (unless you're seriously less intelligent than you let on)

im not going to argue the toss on this because it seems like all you know of this theory is what i've said and it may be the first time you've heard it (either that or you've understood it completley wrong). I would however strongly suggest you read up on it as it does offer a whole new perspective on the regime (especially 32-36 which for me is the most interesting period of the party). You clearly have an interest in the subject so hopefully if you don't mind your preconceptions being challenged you'd really enjoy it.

One of the books i believe was called 'The Will of the Fuhrer' BUT i may be getting it confused with another book (i read it about 8 years ago)
