Mutch was a Championship player when we bought him, I doubt it, I might be wrong though.

So was Campbell but everyone is claiming he has a release clause... gold old Malky!

Maybe he was happy for him to go and was just talking him up??? Inflate the price etc

Sunderland were interested in him since Jack Colback didn't sign a contract. Cardiff rejected an initial offer of 1.5 mil. He won't leave for that.

Good point. What I'm trying to re-inforce though (as I'm sure you will understand) is that certain people are trying to drive the fans down a certain way of thinking when there could be multiple possibilities

Yes, it would be well worth Man Utd, Spurs, Everton etc taking Mutch for only 1.5 million. After loaning him out to a mid table Premiership team for a couple of seasons, I believe Mutch will eventually become a player good enough to break into a top half Premiership team and he will become an England international. I've said this since the end of our Championship winning season and I will always stick to it. 1.5 million, what a bargain and what a cock up by us!

got to be something to do with contract.. there is no way a 22 year old quality english midfielder would go for that price, unless there is a clause.. i hope ole has at least wangled a sell on clause for the future.

Re: ' CARDIFF CITY AGREE TO SELL STAR PLAYER FOR £1.5MILL '

Must be due to the fact City could get nothing next summer if he leaves. Still it's a derisory sum for such a talent who was one of our best players last season.

Re: ' CARDIFF CITY AGREE TO SELL STAR PLAYER FOR £1.5MILL '

Mon Jun 02, 2014 9:57 am

I argued on this forum earlier this year that the stats. showed that Mutch was better than Barkley and should be picked for the World Cup. However, when it came to crunch time for CCFC with about 6 games left, Mutch went on the missing list. I think he knew that with 1 year left on his contract he was off to pastures new and the level of effort declined, even if unintentional (more than 70% of performance for top sports personnel is down to what goes on in their head, with the best performers able to control their emotions and rise to the occasion). Transfermarkt value Mutch at £2.65m, therefore with his poor form at the end of the season, plus only 1 year left on his contract then I would sell for the £1.5m offered. If Burgstaller is as good, plus is cheaper and on lower wages, then it makes sense, as the wage bill needs to be reduced.

Pahhaahahahaha mutch wouldn't get near a top 12 side let alone Man U or spurs   take Southampton for example, I wouldn't start mutch ahead of any midfielder in that team no chance. Another tonteg beauty, this guy is clueless.

Re: ' CARDIFF CITY AGREE TO SELL STAR PLAYER FOR £1.5MILL '

I can't see this being 100% true. An offer of £1.5m maybe but agreeing to that offer, no way. Whilst Sunderland finished well last season I can still see them finishing in the bottom 6 this coming season. Potentially we could end up swapping places with them. Can they pay better wages to Mutch than we can - unlikely. Would we offer Mutch a longer, better contract - very likely.

So there are 2 pertinent questions - (1) Do we want to sell Mutch and (2) Does he want to leave. If the answer to both is no then he stays. Plain and simple, we don't have to sell him.
