Bracklablue off course it's a sporting rivalry but when people in this thread are saying "I f*cking HATE THE ENGLISH, SCUM" that isn't very sporting.

We hardly ever play England. Doubt if they give Wales a second thought. England's main rivals seem to be Germany, possibly Argentina. Don't know what all the fuss is about, to be honest.

Why would I support England - I'm Welsh :? They wouldn't support us if it was vice versa...

England to do OK but not win it NO f*cking way , just until the 1/4s or semi final
then lose on pens when they bottle it.

My feelings really. I wish them the best of luck I don't care if they win it or not but would prefer it if they didn't, I don't care if they lose every game but I would prefer it they didn't.

In the World Cup im supporting Chile (40/1 as well). :thumbright:

Lived in England all my life, but detest the national team and the OTT sickly adulation the English media has for them. John Motson shooting his load as Rooney walks onto the park. It's as though they have some devine right to be regarded as a World beating team. Like us they've won sod all for many many years. I like to think the Welsh FA just save money by not qualifying each time.

I hope In-gur-lund get through the group stage to be then anialated in the quarters.

Chile or South Korea for me. Worth a cheeky bet on Chile. C'mon Gary and Kimbo.

Im certainly not supporting them

I cannot wait for them to get knocked out & would not be suprised if its at the group stage & seeing the face of that dimwit Adrian Chiles.

Was or is it true that Gabriel Batistuta is fluent Welsh speaker due to his Patagonian roots ?

No doubt some people have referred to our neighbours in such terms, but most have said they don't want them to do well because of the sporting rivalry. That said, I fully understand the cultural and historically political rivalry which goes back over a thousand years, but that's not why I want them to fall flat on their asses :bluescarf:

I think Gabriel Batistuta family is of Italian ancestry

The one who I think does speak Welsh is Gabriel Heinze ex Manchester United because his mother is from Chubut and has welsh ancestry.

My grandson is half English, albeit the best half of him is well and truly Welsh. We have lived in the Belly of The Beast now for over 18 years, but I will be watching the World Cup, and whereas I won't actually be passionately supporting England I will watch the games with my Best Mucker and I would rather they Win than Lose.

Does that make me any less Welsh, of course it doesn't - the reality is Wales or should I say 'Bales' will never reach a World Cup in our life time because we are simply not good enough, and I would rather see a British Country win than any one else.

I think in past World Cups the vast majority of us harbour the same thoughts, it just the sad minority of childish tossers would rather see Germany or Spain or anyone else win, when there is usually just 1 representative from the UK.

Heinze doesn't speak Welsh it was a myth. Batistuta might have.

Part of me wants to see them progress and part of me loves it when they fail, and the media go looking for a scapegoat each time they do.

It would be boring without England in a tournament...
