after that he hasnt started any of the last 4 games.

Clear to see that until recently he was a starter, 5 out of 11 there, would surely had been more had he not been injured, with the cardiff game looking like his comeback.

Also should point out he started every game in december, he was the main guy under Laudrop. and only recently has found himself out of the side.

Some of those games he is holding midfield player and not defensive midfield player.

Britton also starts in many of those games. Canas is not out starting defensive midfielder.

The fact he has started maybe 2 in out last 11 shows he is drafted in when we need to rotate and is certainly not our first choice. At the moment he isnt even on the bench.

Im amazed at the lengths some are going to in order to try and make a case that Canas is our first choice defensive midfielder when he clearly isnt :D

Typical polo thread.

So now its changed to what Roathie deems as first choice

Yet when asked why Lucas Leiva was in the list its because he had made the most appearences even though he clearly isnt first choice

Typical Mr.Manipulator thread. Get caughts telling porkies and then changes the debate

Just for giggles, can you confirm you believe Canas is our first choice defensive midfielder?

i have no idea who is the starting defensive midfielder for Liverpool, cant say i watch their games. According to the site I used he had the most appearances at the time and in light of no other reason to think otherwise - he was in. Feel free who you would like in instead and ill research to see if i agree and act accordingly

Roathy,

There is only a couple of appearances in it, so simply saying he doesnt count because he's not first choice is futile. yet includes Lucas in the list who is 2nd choice at Liverpool. He's played enough games for you this season to be included. As he was included when this debate started earlier in the season.

Its classic Roathy manipulation tactics.

 So let me get this right.

You want to take the starting defensive midfielder for every club.... Yet when it comes to Swansea you want me to add two players to add someone who isnt in the side and made less starts

Canas is not our starting defensive midfielder so isnt in the list, just like all the other clubs second choices aren't

The criteria is simple and has not changed.

Yet you want to change it while telling me I am ignoring the fact its not changed

Thats polo logic surely?

More porkies from Mr.M

Lucas did not have the most starts when you originally did this comparison back in February. Nowhere near in fact.

Never tell porkies Mr K

Who did then? Ill add them.

The fact it probably changes nothing to the point being made proves exactly why it isnt a lie

Cattermole is currently Sunderlands starting DM so that pushes Gary up to 18th making your claim he ranks 19th redundant

How not just include every defensive midfielder? Surely thats the only way forward. Canas has played more than enough games to warrant a place in the rankings surely?

Every defensive midfielder, rating, including appearances (start & sub).

Obviously his stats are worse than Medels so I can understand why you want to remove him from the debate. Roathy logic surely?

It proves you shift the argument as the reason you gave for including Leiva contradicts your inclusion of Britton instead of Canas.

Not at all.

I dont follow liverpool, i couldnt tell you their defensive midfielder. Just like all the other clubs. I relied on who had played there the most, according to the site Lucas played the most. I had no reason to think otherwise.

With Britton I knew he was the starting defensive midfielder at the time of writing. I was spot on too considering he has gone on to surpass Canas in starts while Canas isnt even in the squad :thumbright:

Now then, who do you think are actually the starters and we can look into it and see if it changes anything.

Nice to see you have bowed to my opinion and put Britton ahead of Medel in your combined 11 below :laughing6:

Nope, couldn't even name the starting 11.

I live in Australia, matches are on at 3am. If im not watching the Swans or your good selves (if you are on immediately before or after us) i Dont stay up to watch anyone else. They dont interest me. Why would they.

You expect us to believe a site like whoscored.com who have some of the most detailed statistics available online could have got the number of appearances so horribly wrong?

Im off to do some work, I cannot continue debating with when such nonsense is being spouted. The lies are so transparent we might as well be in Gepetos workshop, not on AAMB.

no, im not convinced they are wrong. You have provided no details what so ever as of yet. Im not entirely sure why the song and dance though, although i should remember it is what you do when you are made to look silly.

Anyone who says Britton is better than Medel is nuts!

Having said that, we did overpay for Medel but still easily worth about £7-8m.

Then id hazard a guess to say most of Britain are nuts :laughing6:

Re: Training Ground Punch Up Down West

Most people around Britain will remember Medel as the guy who was playing when Chile destroyed England at Wembley.

Most people probably don't even know who Leon Britton is. Or they know him as the guy close to retiring who can make a few sideways passes

Leon Britton -
2013/14 English Premier League
GAMES GOALS ASSISTS SHOTS
21 0 1 4

Jordon Mutch -
2013/14 English Premier League
GAMES GOALS ASSISTS SHOTS
31 7 5 46

Talk about defensive and attacking midfielders all you want, Jordon Mutch has played as both all season.

Why have both Capoue and Luiz been listed when they have both played only 6 or 7 games as a defensive midfielder

In my search these are the names I saw as playing the most in the DMC role.

By all means tell me who you want instead and I will add them

It seems people are happy to say "he shouldnt be there" yet not forthcoming as to who they believe should due to the simple fact that my point remains and it changes nothing
