Not gonna jump for joy and they have a Welsh man and a English man taking charge will understand derbies better than anyone else after being at Swansea for years.

Say what you want but Laudrup didn't seem to even get into the actual mood to understand the derby and how big it is. I guess we played the occasion and the game both together which worked out perfect.

So Swansea and Michael Laudrup part company four days ahead of the biggest derby the club has ever played with the small matter of Premier League survival and £90m at stake over the course of the next 14 games.

It clearly has been a case of no smoke without fire as talks of divides in the camp and the boardroom not being fully backing of the manager appear to be true, as we have taken a very unusual stance for us and that is to remove the manager from his position.

I am not sure exactly what has gone on behind the scenes but it is clear from here that the board felt whatever damage had been done was not there to be repaired and the only option available to them was to make a managerial change ahead of the game on Saturday.

Michael Laudrup will always be remembered for delivering Swansea’s first major trophy and it is a massive disappointment to me that it ended this way – we always believed that he would move on at the end of the season anyway but to see him depart on what is clearly not the best of terms leaves me with more than a tinge of sadness at the way it all turned sour.

12 months ago it was all so good as we prepared for that League Cup final at Wembley and had you said to Swansea fans then that within a year it would have all gone wrong we would have scoffed.

But it looks like Laudrup paid the price for indifferent league form and there was some truth in all the rumours after all.

His replacement? Garry Monk. Well, that one probably came out of the blue but as a club we have a habit of taking a gamble on a manager who believes in the right things (Martinez, Rodgers and even Laudrup) but maybe at the same time people that are not that high up the agenda of most people.
