So imagine you want to float your company in 2014 and ride off into the sunset.
In the meantime you want to keep costs as low as possible but still keep your company as a salable asset (I don't think a Championship team is very salable).
It's a fine line to walk.

Spot on. Plus velikonja

Another £3m odd. Mind you, we could sign Robin Van Persie or Suarez and even they wouldn't score with the service our strikers get

Tan says he gave Malky £35m - that's huge. With add ons, the bill hit £50m - that's enormous. Would ANYONE look at our transfers and say they were worth £50m? Hell, Malky just told us all that Cornelius isn't ready for the Premier League - and you just KNOW that deal had add ons to it too, probably costing us closer to £10m. Bloody insane.

Tan told us he'd reveal all about Moody's dismissal when the time was right, as he didn't want to add fuel to the fire that was raging at the time - now he's come out and told us. Safe to say, Malky must have really pissed him off with his statement about buying new players in January. And if you look into Malky's wording in said interview, it does actually imply that he knows there's no money but he's trying to point out publicly how as a newly promoted team we are playing catch up, etc etc - if that's the case, he's clearly playing a dangerous game.

With all that said, we do need new players in January, and I could have foreseen a £15m investment. But, if Tan's comments are to be believed (which I think they are - why would be publicly lie about a clear financial issue at the club?), that £15m has already gone into the club, so I can't exactly jump on the anti-Tan bandwagon and start slating him for not putting more money in.

Malky has some good players who haven't featured yet. Harris, Mason, Conway - they'd all offer us another dimension. And how will we know they aren't PL quality unless we try them out? Hell, I'm sure the reason he wasn't playing Noone was 'cos he didn't think he was PL quality, and yet Noone has been causing PL teams all sorts of headaches since his first appearance.

This public battle needs to stop though, end of. I suspect that Tan is well aware of how badly the fans currently think of him though, and I can't help but think from this statement that he suspects that Malky is trying to shift more hate his way if January signings don't come in.

I am afraid that Tan is probably a stranger to the truth and he is so jealous of MM. Most important is that MM is probably the first person with the balls to tell Tan he didnt need his help during a match and banned him from the changing room.
Tan is now in the process of chucking his noodles out of his pram.

Malky & Moody Bought:

Cornelious - Not Prem ready
Brayford - Not even getting in development team
Velikonja - Not even Championship ready

How much is that £12 - £13m

Plus then we have Gestede, Mason, Kiss, Conway, Connolly, any more? All signings now trying to be moved on

Would you give this man more money to spend in January?

Re: Vincent Tan tells Malky Mackay " No Money in January "

How has Malky overspent when it was recently reported that we were £4m under budget? Moody stated this on the weekend we played Palace. If there was an overspend Moody would have been sacked and would not have had his remaining contract paid. This is as I've stated before all about keeping CCFC in the press ready for next years share flotation.

He could sell some players in Jan but the only ones in the squad I would deem surplus to requirement are -
Maynard - Prob get about a million for him now off a Championship side.
Brayford - Again I'd say a million give or take a few thousand
Kiss - 500k maybe
Everyone else in the squad will be needed at some stage. 2.5 mill could get him a decent winger on loan for the rest of the season.

You say he's wasted money the only player we've wasted money on is Brayford. You can't say Cornelius is wasted money yet as hes only just coming back from a long term injury! people writing him off within 4 months of being a cardiff player! People where saying the same about kimbo and mutch not to long ago! What other players have been wasted? Velekonja was signed by tan so you can't even mention him! He's got us promoted ,to a league cup final and were now 14/15th in the premier league how is that not using the money well? I've seen money thrown at managers for years in the championship and its not always that easy to get promoted even with money! What do people want? champions league football?

All he has done is respond to comments Malky made THROUGH THE MEDIA that were downright wrong.

I cannot imagine anyone on this forum would go to the local paper tomorrow and give them a story on what you want from your employers without talking to them???

Malky needs to remember the club, owner & fans are bigger than him sometimes and in the last 24 hours he's admitted Cornelius was a waste for our immediate aim and he's undermined his superiors - he's starting to really get on my nerves when you couple this with the crap we have to witness at Stoke & Palace

He has completely undermined Malky in the press , if he's not happy with his comments then do it in house not to the press

So hasn't malky done the same thing ? In saying he wants three new players

How has he undermined Tan , he's been asked a question and said he would like 3 players , what football manager doesn't do that through the press . ?
How many chairmen do you know who come out the next day and release statements through the press saying they will not be giving the manager a penny to spend ?

Maybe malky already knew there was no money in January ?

I personally believe this is where it all started to fall apart. The players and manager didn't want Tan in the dressing room before games and at half time. Tan does not like being told what to do and this whole sorry mess is his way of getting rid of Malky and bringing in a yes man. It truth will come out soon enough. Tan is a wrong un, simple as that.

In view of what has happened in recent weeks, I honestly think that Malky doesn't actually care what is going on behind the scenes, and neither do the players. I suspect some mischief-making by someone at the Walesonline, blowing the story out of all proportion.

VT may want Malky out, but he isn't going to walk away from the club. And neither is VT.

Malky's transfer policy woeful? He's only taken us over with an initial squad of 10 players, assembled his own squad on the cheap in his first season to take us to the playoffs and Carling Cup final, then taken us up us champions in his second season...NICE ONE!!
