I don't think friendlies years ago were as meaningless as they are today, do you? Hence my comment about the Lions tour. Who's to say Real Madrid didn't have their full side out and treated it like any other game? One of your lot has just been proven to be wrong regarding Real Madrid. We beat them and you beat them. I've no reason to think it was anything other than a friendly match. Dress it up all you want, it wasn't a competitive fixture.
Pretty desperate of you to think otherwise.
And as for your Lions comparison, ignorant to the extreme :laughing6:

Q - Have Swansea ever beaten Real Madrid?
A - Yes.

That's pretty much it.

1927 is something I certainly wouldn't like to "dress up". Anything that happened back then in sport is irrelevant to me. Totally different era.

By the way, I'm not comparing the two clubs. I was merely laughing at the fact one of you lot were boasting that we've never beaten Real Madrid when we have. Albeit, back in the dark ages when you won the FA cupppppp. ;)

I'll admit that the 'lions' comparison was a bit errrr shall we say naive? But in fairness, The Real Madrid v Swansea Town game was no pre season friendly. Back in those days it was very rare to have an overseas side on tour. And a British club travelling to Spain in 1927 for a tournament would have been seen as a great honour. So yes we have also beaten Real Madrid in what would have been seen as a competitive game at the time. Too suggest otherwise is nothing short of ... well, lets just say our rivalry can sometimes leave us hard to accept the great achievements that the other has attained during the course of their history. :thumbright: .

No, but we did beat the reigning European Champions over two legs just last year. Something Real Madrid weren't when you lost to them over 2 legs 40 odd years ago :thumbright:

Nothing naive about my Lions comment. I am well aware of how important the Lions tour is. That was exactly my point.

Just because the word "Tour" was involved, someone decided that it was a meaningless friendly. This isn't always the case.
