Re: Do not applaud Ryan Giggs, why?

So the fact he didn't play in quite a few friendlies for Wales detracts from what the guy has achieved overall in his career, I think not.
Could someone please tell me why Giggs missing friendly games had any bearing on the Welsh team as a whole??? when it counted the guy was there giving his all for his country and let's be totally honest he was surrounded for the most part by some poor quality players!
His personal life is another story and one that doesn't really interest me, all I know is that the guy has been a credit to the game for over 20 years and is recognised worldwide for what he has achieved in the game.

As a country we don't tend to produce many welsh footballing legends due to the lack of success of the national team, the guy could have had over 100 caps for his country and still not been recognised as a welsh legend.
Any player and the same applies to Bale, who plays for a lesser nation will make their reputation at club level, as Giggs did in abundance!!

One of the best players ever to come out of wales. Born in Cardiff (probably why NJ73 doesn't like him  ) absolute legend of a footballer. Carried wales on so many occasions and turned down the chance to play for England where he could have been challenging for major honours (what a difference he would have made to their 1-dimensional team ). Before the game and after I will be applauding him. What he's done in his personal life is his business - I bet there are very few on here who haven't done something they shouldn't have. He's a footballing legend, he's Welsh, he's the most successful british footballer ever (I think), he's Cardiff born. We may never see his like again.

When the game starts let's give him hell

I worked with his grandfather for some time, one of the nicest blokes you could wish to meet. Danny would often talk about his grandson and how good he was, playing for Manchester schools at that time. But would I applaud Giggs on Sunday, definitely not. He's playing for our opponents and we have to make their trip to Galatasary some years back look like a garden tea party  Blooooobirds

When he decided to play for Wales.

He played for England schools, but chose Wales . He would have walked into the England side.

England Schools is not based on nationality its based on location

Apologies guys -looks like I was wrong. Thought he would have qualified on residency like Earnie... The last bit of the statement is in bold showing that it didn't matter anyway, he wanted to play for Wales.

''Born in Cardiff to Welsh parents, Giggs represented Wales at international level. As a youngster, Giggs captained England Schoolboys. Contrary to popular belief, he was never eligible for the full England team (eligibility at the schoolboy level depends solely upon the location of the school, in Giggs' case Moorside High School in Salford).[64][nb 1] He has stated that he would have chosen to play for Wales anyway''

If gigs had carried on playing for his country it would have inspired more welsh kids to follow Cardiff/Swansea/Newport/Wrexham instead of the mancs.A lot of them will be at the stadium tomorrow probably asking gigs to do the ayatollah
agree with nj73,at least Ashley Williams is passionate about playing for wales and gives 100%
