I have always been a blue cardiff fan if you like. My son is new to football (last 2-3yrs) and doesn't understand why people in his school support liverpool, man utd, chelsea and man city..... When we have a premier league club on our own doorstep.

Then I have to go through all the rigmarole in explaining that these kids have inherited decades of support for the English clubs from the parents/grandparents etc (usually the men obviously!) they just look up to their fathers and follow in their footsteps. To my son, football is all about your local area, supporting your own city, and that I feel proud of, because in a way, he has followed me also, He understands why I don't like/want Red, even though I can understand why Blue means absolutely nothing in sentiment to him. We both support the same club and team, regardless of generation, and will continue to do so no matter what league we are in, or what colour we are in for the coming years. He is the new generation, and that, I have no problem with.

Truth is we have moaned for years about seeing kids walking around in UTD tops etc, plastic premier fans from the valleys and what not... Now we have a new generation of kids who are growîng up with us as a Vogue team. Something many of us never had. We cannot attack new fans for not having the same views as the loyal blue fan base. The people with the knowledge and the battle scars should be putting an arm around the young team and saying how fortunate they're. Not threatening or intimidating them.

Every team has its plastics, some more than most. But I would prefer Cardiff plastics in South Wales than UTD ones.

I was amazed by the amount of Cardiff tops I spotted walking around Cardiff when I was there last, yes it was on the back of the Citeh Game but even the Wednesday there were still tops left right and centre... How can that be a bad thing?

I agree with where you said "We cannot attack new fans for not having the same views as the loyal blue fan base" - That is fair enough and obviously nobody could disagree - UNLESS those new fans have a go at the pro-blue fans.

However, the fact that some fans are ACTUALLY buying their children the red shirt is beyond me. If my kid ever asked me to get him a red city shirt I'd say no and get him the blue one. There are no excuses for that to be fair

I would prefer my son to have blue, but if he ever asked for a red kit.Thats what I would get him.I can see you aint got children. It would be his choice so I would be happy to oblige
