By the way, not just a successful businessman... A VERY successful businessman. Check the requirements of a business visa in Australia, i wont brag at the turnover requirements of the UK based business.... :D

Gee let me think! How about anything that can't be expressed as a number or a percentage?! This is not a reference to the player comparison you have become obsessed with, but stats in general. Let's say a player gets chalked up with a missed/incomplete pass - let's say that pass was a diagonal ball that was an inch from a strikers foot that would have resulted in a clear goal scoring opportunity. That would be totally different to pass out of defence to a full back sprinting towards the half-way line, looking for a quick counter, that ends up going out for a throw in. It would also be completely different to a pass along the back four that get's missed, is picked up by an attacker and results in a shot at goal. However, all three scenarios are simply counted as a missed pass.

I'd be happy with the first two scenarios as they are positive actions, despite being negative stats! Without watching every action the player has made that contributed towards those stats, you are just looking at numbers!

How about the statistic of points accrued so far this season? We have more than Man Utd, without taking anything else into consideration, does that make us the better team? I don't think so because I'm not an idiot and realise that there are many other factors to take into consideration!

So you still havent told me what hasnt been considered in this instance, you seem to be talking very boradly on such a specific topic.

Tell me what we havent considered, amd if we havent - then we will. :thumbright:

I refer you to my original post which states:
"Stats are interesting but are pretty black and white. Intelligence, experience, understanding and common sense are required when looking at them! "

If you are unable to accept that negative statistics can be the result of positive actions (examples above) and many other factors need to be considered, then you are merely quoting numbers. Do you think Cardiff are a better team than Man Utd or would you consider other factors than simple numbers on the table?

Why is it a strange question? There isn't a subject on this forum that you don't pretend you're an expert on. I just think you're wasting your time on these things when you have a whole world of football loving fans to impart your knowledge with

Do you think you could be capable of writing a football related piece that would be good enough to get printed? Kamara has written reams

In your opinion if course.

I dont consider myself an expert on many things, football i do however. You trust your life with a doctor who has studies for a paltry 8 years. Football has been an area i have studied for the best part of 35 years - 4 and a half times more than the minimum requirement of a doctor you trust with your life.

Your goals in life may be to get things printed, mine arent. I have very successful businesses as many know here.

And you dont have to be an expert to get things printed or published, is carl an expert on football :laughing6:

Have you ever actually played football?

Attacked? Im pretty sure i wont get attacked, im pretty handy.

Business however is business and im afraid it can easily be vandalised and judging from stories from some of this lot i wouldnt be so suprised.

What is surprising though is why you want to know so desperately :D

The point I am making, as well you know, is that statistics are a useful tool (insert joke here) but should not necessarily be used to declare something as a fact. You may wish to use stats to say one player is better than another, but, as i have pointed out, they do not take into consideration many other factors.

I have no idea who you are, but using stats I might decide you are called Mohammed Lee, live in China and are in fact a woman!

The highest population density, most common first and last names and gender. Stats!! Using those and assuming you are a human being, living on planet Earth, I have decided you are a woman in China called Mohammed Lee!

Thats probability, not specific stats. If you dont understand that this debate isnt going to go well.

Re: Chris Kamara

Chris Kamara says unbelievable Jeff 91.2% of the time.
He comments positively on Medal 83.3.% of the time.

One therefore must conlude that Leon Britton has played for just three or one clubs.

Me. I assumed that was the case as you prefer to look at stats as cold, hard numbers, without considering any other factors!
(It's probablity based on stats, Miss Lee!)

Ah then you assumed wrong.

You should ask me what stats i consider when judging who is the best. Then we can make an informed decision, assuming is not the way for a reasoned debate. Neither is making the mistake of confusing probability and statistics.

Now, what didnt i consider when looking at the stats of medel and canas... Ill then tell you if i did or not, and if not, i will.

OK, let's look at 'pass accuracy' from your 'DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER' thread. All 3 players have pretty impressive stats. However, we have no way of knowing if the 7-9% of missed passes were due to stunning last ditch interceptions, foolish decisions or came close to setting up a goal! It's just a number. A player could have a 100% pass accuracy, but if he only touched the ball once and it was back to the goalie, it's nothing to get excited about. If all you have to go on are the stats, you could say that the person with 100% is probably the better player.

BTW: Apologies to the OP for contributing to the derailment of this thread. My particular contributions should really have gone into the thread about defensive midfielder stats!

Thats when we enter the probability domain. All players are open to this and subject to the variables, they are playing the same sides in the league so each player should have a similar effect from the variables of the opposition. The more test results (matches) naturally the more accurate a representation the stats will have.
