Why would i want to name them? I have a cardiff based business thats 10,000 miles away and someone wants to know the address of it on a forum where people have said they want to throw acid in my face.

Gee let me think! How about anything that can't be expressed as a number or a percentage?! This is not a reference to the player comparison you have become obsessed with, but stats in general. Let's say a player gets chalked up with a missed/incomplete pass - let's say that pass was a diagonal ball that was an inch from a strikers foot that would have resulted in a clear goal scoring opportunity. That would be totally different to pass out of defence to a full back sprinting towards the half-way line, looking for a quick counter, that ends up going out for a throw in. It would also be completely different to a pass along the back four that get's missed, is picked up by an attacker and results in a shot at goal. However, all three scenarios are simply counted as a missed pass.

I'd be happy with the first two scenarios as they are positive actions, despite being negative stats! Without watching every action the player has made that contributed towards those stats, you are just looking at numbers!

How about the statistic of points accrued so far this season? We have more than Man Utd, without taking anything else into consideration, does that make us the better team? I don't think so because I'm not an idiot and realise that there are many other factors to take into consideration!

I dont consider myself an expert on many things, football i do however. You trust your life with a doctor who has studies for a paltry 8 years. Football has been an area i have studied for the best part of 35 years - 4 and a half times more than the minimum requirement of a doctor you trust with your life.

You should ask me what stats i consider when judging who is the best. Then we can make an informed decision, assuming is not the way for a reasoned debate. Neither is making the mistake of confusing probability and statistics.

OK, let's look at 'pass accuracy' from your 'DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER' thread. All 3 players have pretty impressive stats. However, we have no way of knowing if the 7-9% of missed passes were due to stunning last ditch interceptions, foolish decisions or came close to setting up a goal! It's just a number. A player could have a 100% pass accuracy, but if he only touched the ball once and it was back to the goalie, it's nothing to get excited about. If all you have to go on are the stats, you could say that the person with 100% is probably the better player.

BTW: Apologies to the OP for contributing to the derailment of this thread. My particular contributions should really have gone into the thread about defensive midfielder stats!

Thats when we enter the probability domain. All players are open to this and subject to the variables, they are playing the same sides in the league so each player should have a similar effect from the variables of the opposition. The more test results (matches) naturally the more accurate a representation the stats will have.

Swansea have probably had more succesfull passes, more of the ball and more shots than Cardiff. Stats say Swansea are therefore better than Cardiff. The league table says Cardiff are better.
