What a convincing argument.
What a mare you're having :laughing6:

My opinion of whether they are better or not is just as valid as the original post stating who he thought WAS better.

your baiting skills leave a lot to be desired.

You agree that your argument wasnt convincing then?
Says a lot about you that your first thought about a post is that it's about baiting. No need for me to bait when you're setting yourself up to look pretty silly :laughing6:

Wolfsburg made an enquiry too and we rejected their approach if memory serves.

It wasn't an argument. it was my opinion on the players listed that were claimed to be better than Williams. keep up.

They bid the same for Gestede in January too.

Skysports.com understands that Swansea have rejected an approach from Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg for defender Ashley Williams.

Reports throughout January have stated that the Wales international has been attracting interest from a number of clubs, including members of the Premier League.

Williams agent announced earlier in 2011 that his client would be staying with Swansea until at least the summer, while the club do not want to sell as they chase promotion from the Championship.

But Wolfsburg are the latest side to be linked with the 26-year-old, who is under contract until 2013.

McClaren has yet to impress in Germany, despite already spending a lot of money since taking over last summer, and he is understood to want to strengthen his defence.

No quotes, but you'd rather take the word of a Sky article with no quotes than a newspaper with direct quotes from a Jenkins interview?

Wow.

Which bit? Spending small doesn't get you world class or the fact that vermaelen isn't first choice?

Re: Ashley Williams...

that spending small doesn't get you world class and that he would be back up to vermaelan.

Re: Ashley Williams...

Sat Jul 20, 2013 11:36 am

I'm out of this. Williams to me is nowhere near world class. A good and solid defender in the prem, but never a top 5 in the league player..

Makes too many errors for me too. Might be more solid for Swansea, still doesn't mean he doesn't make those errors though.

I honestly don't rate him though - I think he's slow, ponderous and is so prone to making clumsy back passes and scoring own goals...

What on earth do people see in him?

Personally i think he's not the greatest defender by any means and certainly has the odd Titus Bramble moment in him too.

However, what makes him so important to Swansea is the way that any defence he plays in plays football from the back. He plays that role perfectly as he knows when to drop off at the perfect times and his distribution is very good. I think it's this that makes big teams such as Arsenal interested in him, the fact that his presence would instantly make them a better footballing side.

But as i say, I really don't think he's defensively a Premier League player, and would be a liability in most sides that don't control games and are on the back foot. He seems to lose concentration at times too.

Would i want him at Cardiff over Hudson or Turner, personally no. But that's largely to do with the style of football we play.

He rarely makes an error, statistically the best performing defender in the Premier League and is rightly the target of Champions League clubs as a result.

but you are entitled to your opinion.

The amount of mistake's Williams has made for Swansea in over 5 seasons i could count on the fingers of one hand, a fantastic player, and i hope everyone thinks he's sh*ite and leave him at Swansea. :malky:

He has made quite a few errors, costing his team goals in the process. he's not world class and is not the target of any champions league clubs, according to your chairman.

I'd say the interest from Arsenal was real, however, the other ones you've plucked from the air, I don't agree.

No doubt you'll post again, trying to force your opinion as fact. :laughing6:

Yet not even in the PL team of the year. Good player but limited and will not be a starting player for any CL side. As for being world class, I'd be interested in how many other jacks on here support this farcical view :laughing6:

What titus bramble moment, i think he has made two mistakes in over 200 games for swansea.

One of you already mentioned that he made 2 mistakes last season, and I remember a few when you were in the Championship too, own goals/short backpasses etc. And i'm sure he's made a couple for Wales too.

As i say, just my opinion but i think he's a liability defensively, though does have good qualities too. I just wouldn't want him in my side, if i were a manager. I wouldn't trust him.

Whatever. Stating 2 mistakes in over 200 games is utter nonsense and I doubt there is any player that could claim that. Never conceded a goal when he's played for you, or has he been blameless for every one? No back passes gone astray? Not given the ball away or been out of position?

RM was a joke but you're taking it to an even more farcical level
