Just like managers, almost all football owners will eventually become unpopular, success cannot last forever. At the moment there are people expressing their love for tan, but it's not him they love, it's his money. As soon as things go tits up they will be calling for his head just the same as all the others.

As the OP said "it's easy to say why you don't like the man" - your not bloody kidding mate!

I loved Sam and his ideas. He deliberately gained media attention and it was a good time !

Tan wants Malaysian attention and although I understand I still struggle.

Was anyone else gonna pay the tax bill ?
Were HMRC gonna wind us up ?

I haven't been insulted once tonite , wow , I may return sooner

Maybe CCFC is an addiction they cant give up ?

I have to say, ghastly is a very good way to describe the re brand. Other words I would use are despicable, abhorrent, crass, wretched and loathsome.

Tan does not give the tiniest bit of shit about our fans, he has made that quite clear. Love his money if you want, but why would anyone love the man. He certainly doesn't love you.

Troobloo3339 doesn't like it when you give opinions that are different to his though.

If someone thinks the rebrand is ghastly, they have every right to say it! :ayatollah:

I wish I could like him for being the person to give us a successful team but I can't as he has stripped us of blue :(

Tan is looking at the bigger picture, to make us succeed he believes that the only way to do this long term is to grow our market beyond just South Wales and believes that in doing so the market to aim for is the Asian market he knows so well and where he believes playing in a red shirt will assist the process.

Imagine it like this. Of the 20,000 fans at the stadium, if he was to lose 5,000 fans because of their love of blue i.e. the 25% he estimates, then he has retained 15,000 of local support. If as he believes a red shirt will appeal more in China than a blue shirt will and the fan base grows as a result then we could gain many thousands of new fans, making the loss of 5,000 local fans regrettable but acceptable. Tan is a very successful businessman and not in it for the love of football and personally I thank god he is because our history has shown again and again that for this club to survive let alone grow we need a man with vision.

Tan is not stupid and knows that for his vision to succeed, the club has to be be playing at the top end of the Premiership consistently to keep the interest overseas and I for one am very excited about what potentially awaits this club.

Of course should Tan end up failing which is perfectly possible in a business that relies so much on what happens on the pitch, then as he said he will walk away but leave us in a good position and the 25% can then come back and watch their team playing in blue.

I believe some fans want success but just can't get their head around the need for a colour change. I believe the majority do understand Tan's reasons for changing to red although most of them would ideally prefer to stay in blue. What I find hard to understand though is that there are some fans out there who I honestly beleive would prefer for us to go back to how we were before the Malaysians become involved, back to the days of fighting for the clubs very existence.........just as long as it meant the team played in blue

Re: VINCENT TAN.

Who's to say Tan won't turn us back to blue once we are making profit? The reason we are red now is because he is trying to scrimp together every penny and make us appeal more. It might work, it might not but hes willing to try and get something going.

Sometimes to turn a business around you need to make sacrifices - lay off staff, rebrand, relocate, change manufacturers. With a footballing business only some of those are applicable because otherwise there would be uproar. Imagine if Tan tried to relocate us like other businesses do? It would cause murder.

I would not be surprised if Tan returns us back to blue once we are making profit. At that point he'll have what he came here for. He'll have a business known, a brand known, a profit making machine in the west and a continuous stream of income from TV deals and competition money. He can then also be regarded as a hero if he returned us to blue.

The key is it takes sacrifices to get there. When a club is losing as much money as us per month then I do think from a business point of view one has to understand that he will be trying whatever he can to scrape from the barrel. Of course this is wishful thinking but we genuinely don't know his motives and I have given up second guessing. What will happen, will happen now. People should just accept that and hope and pray for the best.

Uh no... I do not class tan a tin pot dictator nor do I consider him a toss pot.
And whilst there is no one else ready to come along and fund us I will remain grateful to this Malaysian Buisnessman.

If I wanted to come out and say "Tan f**k off, You're a ****!!" I would.
But I don't. I would rather say "Thanks for the continuous funds and any chance you could reconsider certain aspects of your rebrand plan?"

Or is that to offensive?

Re: VINCENT TAN.

Tan is a decent man who is listening to his fan base. He made some changes that were initially unpopular but the fans have backed him financially in their droves by renewing STs, to me that shows great business sense and accumen. The best way to see if fans like something is to see whether or not they come back and most of us have bar a few.

Roll on next season, maybe Tan will invest our ST money in changing the seats to red!?

Chuck, it's your decision and your mindset. Only a fool would argue in attempt to change that.
I'm just trying to understand how "Fans" can suggest that they have hated him from the off/ or since he has implemented the changes. When surely they must realise that owners come and go regularly In this "Buisness".
I have stated in the past that my biggest resentment towards Tan is the divide he has caused. Especially after the work Malky did to unite us all.
If I felt strongly enough that I couldn't accept what Tan was doing then I would just "Walk Away"
But I wouldn't walk into another club. But the fact for me remains, I feel stronger passion for CCFC than I do for Tan.

Typical business acumen that does not apply to football.

If there is something I don't like at Asda I go to Tesco. Why because there is no loyalty or association to Asda.

Supporting a football team is different as you should know. When you pick your team it is for life, that is the unwritten code. The association is bonded at that moment of choosing and the loyalty is proved through time. This is totally different to being a "customer".

Just because someone has renewed does NOT mean they like it as you are implying. There is a higher level of discontent that a football club can go to where a high street food store like Asda cannot. That is all down to the association/loyalty/bonding of the supporter to the club and that allows the likes of Tan to get away with it.

AJ,

I think you need to have another look at your words "owners come and go regularly In this "Business"."

Owners that are here one minute then go the next have not put any money into the clubs. Prime example being Portsmouth and Leeds of late. Owners that have piled in the dosh tend to hang around a lot longer. Roman at Chelsea being the leading example. I would say with confidence Tan is going to be around for quite a while considering how much money he has "loaned" us.

Tan is an idiot. I firmly believe that, don't care how much money he has.

A fool and his money is soon parted and so far it's to the tune of about £50 million.
