Re: England v Argentina " FIFA World Cup 2026 "

They seem to have forgotten who the current European Champions are that they beat France on their way to the final and beat England in the final. It was the main reason they were my pick for this WC, I just couldn't see anyone beating them.

Hold my hands up, I thought France would win the tournament and were able to beat anyone. Spain were very good but I also think France were off it.

Would expect Spain to go into the final as favourites, whoever the opponents are - hopefully England.

Surprised that this is the first time Messi has played against England.

Already starting to kick off between both sets of players.

How is that not a straight red card for blatantly smacking the England guy in the back of the head? WTF is VAR there for if not for something like that?

Think this referee is trying to keep his cards in his pocket for as long as possible, probably a wise decision.

HT: England 0-0 Argentina

No major chances for either team.

A lot of fouls happening and a yellow for each team. Referee will do well to keep this 11 v 11.

England commentators moan about every f.cking thing and england do nothing wrong ,very waring.

I the longer this goes on without a goal the more it will suit Argentina & nobody has really looked like scoring so far.

I was concerned about this ref, but in a very difficult game he has been very fair.....

Agreed on both points. He needs to put a stop to the mass of Argentinian players surrounding him whenever he blows the whistle though as that's already getting out of hand.

1-0 ENGLAND

ANTHONY GORDON

Now it's going to get tasty out there.

I watched the first half on the move, and I thought England did okay; but the second half has brought the game to life!

What a goal from England and Anthony Gordon, with a great team goal!

What I liked was the knock back at the start to set up the run down the wing before a great cross and a well taken goal to become only England’s third goal scorer in this World Cup competition

Superb!

I'll be amazed if Argentina don't score at some point, really knocking on the door now.

1-1

ENZO FERNANDEZ

Brilliant goal

It's been coming. England went defensive and were trying to hang on, now they're playing 5-4-1 they'll have trouble scoring.

Re: LATEST: ENGLAND v ARGENTINA

Because England have made defensive changes, have to make Argentina favourites now

Nine added minutes

2-1 ARGENTINA

LAUTARO MARTINEZ

I said to my kid 5 at the back mean 2 centre half marking space....

OMG 2-1

Re: LATEST: ENGLAND v ARGENTINA

That was pretty inevitable once they equalized with all those forward players on the pitch. England went defensive & beat themselves again.

Get in ARGENTINA!!!!

Argentina will waste 5 of the next 6 minutes play acting & falling about.

FT: ENGLAND 1-2 ARGENTINA

ARGENTINA WILL PLAY SPAIN IN SUNDAY'S WORLD CUP FINAL

FRANCE WILL PLAY ENGLAND IN THE THIRD PLACED PLAY-OFF ON SATURDAY

Re: POLL - SPAIN v ARGENTINA - WORLD CUP FINAL

Wed Jul 15, 2026 9:04 pm

Since their goal England have had 12% of the possession, that right there is a problem & they have nobody to blame but themselves yet again.

I'm disappointed, I wanted England to win it.

But they can have no complaints, Argentina showed their class and deserve to be in the final.

I hope Spain win it now, just because Argentina are one of my least favourite football nations.

England sat on the edge of the box to defend their lead way to early. They did the same in the Euro final against Italy and lost again

The champions of Europe will take on the champions of S. America in the WC final.
