AT the end of the day OP shouldn't have taken kids to the ninian stand if he's offended by swearing......but he did, and there were kids there on saturday and i would have expected any self respecting adult who had seen them and was sat within hearing range to at least try and curb their swearing a bit (obviously the odd words is going to be said). Those that didn't in my opinion are scum.

What your suggesting is then, that if by accident, some geezer plonks his 8 yr old in the middle

would be for HIM to move. Same as if some pissed up loon started f'ing and blindiong in the Family

That would be a sensible solution. But surely in the meantime while the kids are still present, individuals would try and act more respectful? I don't understand this attitude on here, that these kids are in our area, f**k 'em!
And by the way, I'm not one of the PC brigade as someone suggested above, swearing around kids is one principle instilled in me at a young age by my f*****g mother!!

As a previous poster pointed out, within shouting distance in a stadium are dozens and dozens of people, do you really expect people to look at every single person, even behind them, before calling the referee a w*nker?

“Get up you cheating f******* &%^£” was the cry of the supporter behind me, not really thinking, I showed that I wholeheartedly agreed, and used some words that would make my mother ashamed, and some that she’s probably never heard of.
Perhaps I should have seen it coming then, when an elderly woman turned round saying angrily: “Mind your language young man, I’m not listening to that for the whole season, pipe down or you’ll be thrown out’.
Whilst not trying to justify the actions of me and my peers, I did attempt to explain to her that this was a football match, where bad language is the norm, and to expect passionate support without the odd linguistical slip up was unrealistic.
Perhaps it was my Southern accent, but she wasn’t impressed, pointing out that her cause had the support of not only Newcastle United, but many other clubs, in demanding a match day free of ‘foul and abusive language’.
It seems that clubs are doing their best to stamp out the traditional football related f-word. A feeling that is evident in the poster for the Football League’s ‘Enjoy the Match’ campaign, which shows what looks to be a drunken, angry yob unleashing unholy verbal destruction upon quiet, innocent looking parents and their children.
The advert mentions family areas, but more and more clubs are trying to change their overall image, and turn football into a family orientated affair, with many offering special family matchdays and ticket bundles for adults willing to bring their kids.
The reason is simple, because football’s audience is changing. The traditional audience of young, working class males, by and large simply can’t afford it anymore.
Clubs have had to adapt, and the idea of making football a day out for the whole family appears to be the popular solution.
For example, a Category C adult ticket to see Liverpool in the Anfield Road stand would cost an adult £42, but if they take their child with them, it’s £57.
Some fans will arguably be more tempted to spend an extra £15 and give little Timmy a chance to his heroes in the flesh, instead of paying £42 to get drunk, shout, sing, and generally act like a complete moron, an experience they could have at a far cheaper price at home or in the pub.
Some fans may have taken note: ‘To be honest there is more atmosphere in my pub these days than at most football grounds’.
These are the words of John Westwood, AKA ‘Mr Pompey’.
He is a fan that divides the opinion of many, with some fans labelling him as “drunken and loutish”, yet in my opinion he is a symbol of why the average working man still turns up to cheer on their team week in week out.
He explains: ‘It has become my passion, my life. It’s Jekyll and Hyde, if you like. No more minding my p’s and q’s and having to be polite to customers and the customer always being right. At the weekends I just become myself.’
‘I have been ejected from a few grounds in the Premier League especially because I stand out from the crowd and I make a bit of noise.’ he says. ‘Football is a bit politically correct these days and they don’t like people who show passion.’
Passion is something that many feel is being eroded from the terraces, sorry seats, up and down the country. Yet those who still have passion, often mix it with beer and the desire to let off the steam that has accumulated over the past week. All for just 90 minutes of action. Put all of that together, and the odd four letter word is surely inevitable.

Women do what they want to do and us Lads have all that testosterone to release and i wont apologize for that because that is our make up. Us Lads needed something to unwind and football is our bag but it has been hijacked by Kids and Women.
But saying that i have bought my boy and my Wife's Boy but i have been lucky my Mrs hates Football and leaves me to it. Pure heaven!!. Now i will get slated but i bet those that have my sentiments/thoughts are in the majority, but just won't admit it as it ain't 2012 or PC correct.

Nobody is moaning about swearing at football in a general context you moron.
We are talking about swearing in front of young kids at the match, something some of us with a bit of
respect think is a bit out of line and most people on here if sat by a kid at the football would wind their tongue in.
Now go and play with the traffic you 'Flange'.
