Just seen a TV advert for people to learn Welsh advertised by the WAG. Can't they spend our money on something that matters to us all!!!!

Just drove past an area of London with signs in Urdu, punjabi, arabic, mandarin and xhosa languages.
That dont come cheap.
Tell you what AM - lets ban all languages other that english (the mongrel language of german, scandanavian, brythoninc (welsh celtic), french and latin).

every kid in wales should be taught basic welsh.that includes any non welsh who live there.i,m not getting drawn on the forms that get sent out.that should maybe be decided on the percentage who speak welsh as a first lang in that area.let,s put it like this.there are sometimes 30 different langs that have to be put on to paper to let the newly arrived or not so newly arrived citizens of england understand what,s going on.if they can do that for them then teaching kids a lang that has been in these islands since year dot is a no brainer.i,m english by the way

I can speak the language to a degree and I am all for it being taught in our schools to children that WANT to be taught the language. They force it on every child at the moment.

Welsh speakers in my eyes view it as a club and use it to say they are more Welsh than everyone. Most Welsh speakers are bitter for some reason. It's a clique that I do not want to be part of at the moment, attitudes must change before the whole country adopts the language.

simple answer to all of you who think welsh is waste of time ! how would people feel if wanted to do away with english in england, german in germany ect ect! god the french wanted to change the recognised international language? (english if didnt know) to french, wales is a country, so has the right to have its own language culture (urdd) (istedfordd) having dual names on road signs are no different than in many other countries of the world, yes there are stupid people out there who take things to far! (like court cases in welsh) but get them wherever you live, so be proud of your inheritance believe it or not its your identity! we are not english we are welsh and the language comes as part of it!!!

It's the attitude of some which is a shame. I like to think my post on the language was fair and balanced and certainly not STRANGE. I get your drift about who speaks the language, I have travelled the length and breadth of Wales and you hear ordinary people speak it from the rural villages to the inner town council estates. In Cardiff though you have to admit that it tends to be only the affluent areas that have a big welsh speaking population.
