Or click the link above that gives factual statistics comparing Allen with other top deep lying midfielders concentrating on defensive stats....

You are on a loser here mate, give it up. To say Allen can't defend is like saying ronaldo can't beat a man. It's kind of what he does like

Just saying what I've been told, hasn't come from my opinion. The way your biting it seems as if you used to watch him on a regular basis!

Re: Coleman out

Really!

I know ronaldo can beat a man too, does that suggest I am a real Madrid fan or man utd fan? Or just that I've seen him, others have seen him and it's a widely accepted and obvious fact?

I have no idea what your point is here

Re: Coleman out

Fri Oct 05, 2012 4:39 pm

The point is you dont have to watch someone week i week out to know if they are good at defending attacking passing etc

Joe Allen has played 10 times for Wales, 5 times for great Britain, 4 or 5 times or so against us, tens of times on tv for the jacks.

If you can't tell if someone can defend after seeing them 30 odd times then theres no hope. The fact you have to rely on your mates views (which are proven to be wrong) on a player that plays for Wales. Is on tv every week and played against us is a little odd.

He's not on tv every week? If you mean match of the day then that's a little but vague as its a highlights show, not showing every attack and tackle. How are they proven wrong? It's their opinion, which they are entitled to. Just because your 'facts' say otherwise, why should it be wrong? Football matches aren't based on facts are they

Because he is widely accepted as an excellent defensive midfielder not to mention the stats that say he is better defensively than many stars including yaya toure. On occasion opinion can be completely wrong.

If I said I think whites is bad at free kicks, that would be an opinion but a pretty obviously wrong one. Allen wins the ball back for his team more than the majority of defensive midfielder in the premier league, that is a fact.

As for not being on tv every week. Liverpool are probably live on tv every other week, between cups, European and league.

The fact we are still debating whether Allen is good defensively is astounding.

All opinions. Stats are irrelevant at times, if a misplaced pass is counted in a stat it's the same regardless of whether the ball goes out of play or if the ball goes to an attacker and he scores. They are irelivant at times also. I think he's a good player, I'm not debating that. I don't agree he was worth 15 million though. Last night for instance, I saw a lot of passes from Allen but very little otherwise, the commentator even said when he make a rare run that he doesn't do it very often. Allens game is keeping the ball, retaining possession.

Re: Coleman out

Fri Oct 05, 2012 5:08 pm

As is said. He is worth whatever a club is willing to pay for him.

He is the key man for Liverpool and if he is the catalyst to make them play the way the manager wants them he's cheap at £15m.
But I'm afraid what can't be debated is if he's a good defensive player. You can claim "opinion" but on this note you don't have to have to be a bachelor in football studies to realise that opinion is a load of nonsense.

Re: Coleman out

Fri Oct 05, 2012 5:12 pm

Also joe Allen goals scored in premier league.... 4 in 42..... 1 every 10.25 games.

Ramsey goals scored in the premier league... 6 in 74..... 1 every 12.33 games

He isn't just better defensively.

No I dont.

He's worth every penny and more to Liverpool.

Don't take my word for it. You like to take the word of people that watch him every week...

Some saying he's the xabi alonso they have been crying out for since he left and how the transfer fee was a bargain.

All opinions as you would say. Every jack I know has said how fortunate they were to have that fee for him. Huw didn't even expect that fee for him, that's why the transfer release fee was set at that because they never expected to lose him

I've never said all opinions, that's your line. I believe in facts and it is a fact that Liverpool fans think its a bargain, I also know its a fact Liverpool management thought he was worth it hence they bought him for it.

As for your mates, we have already established their reliability.

And did you make up the bit about what huw was expecting or did you use your telepathy?

No just that they regarded Allen as an important player and didn't want to lose him. Fact. The 15 million fee would have put most clubs off the scent. Why are they unreliable? Because the stats say otherwise? I read different stats on different websites so they aren't exactly reliable either are they

 talk about 2 plus 2 making 12

Man united didn't want to lose ronaldo doesn't mean he wasn't worth the money they got for him

And yes,he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the premier league, accepted by experts and people involved in the game up and down the country and is also backed up by facts provided in this thread where he is statistically compared to all top deep lying midfielders in the prem.

You really are making a fool of yourself :D

You cant really compare Speed and Colemans managerial career. Sheff was Speeds first ever job, Coleman has done poorly at a number of clubs.

My source is opta index, the tool used by every manager in the premier league to evaluate performance. not to mention testimonials of the experts in the game, managers in the game and the majority of the fans in the Swansea board and the Liverpool board. Then to top it off the stats compiled to compare defensive midfielders in the premier league. Not to mention the obviousness in the fact he's good defensively.

So to clarify for everyone, maremyou seriously saying you believe joe Allen is poor defensively.

Colemans start to his tenure hasnt been vastly different from speeds start. And Coleman has a far more successful managerial cv than speed.
