Played golf a few years back with Ron "Chopper" Harris the former Chelsea player, great bloke enjoyed his company, also met Danny Blanchflower and Alf Sherwood at a golf day once, true gentlemen.

The biggest t***t was Leighton James, up his own arse.

Bumped into Gestede in Tesco on Western Avenue around 10 months ago, and although I was annoyingly chanting "Rudy, Rudy, Rudy"! whilst I was approaching him down the frozen foods aisle..he still admirably had time for me..top guy and smart Mrs too! :ayatollah:

I found Ramsey the total opposite and that was about 3/4 yrs ago, you must of caught him on a off day

Met a lot of players over the years can't really say any of them were arrogant, when I used to interview Mark Aizlewood he wouldn't keep still and I always had to chase him to the car !

Funniest I met, Mark Jones Ebbw Vale and Wales number 8, Vale had won a couple of big games and I said something on the lines that the team must be happy after series of wins, he replied: "We are doing well, but we're not sucking each others cocks yet"! couldn't print that in the Argus !

Best I ever met was Calzaghe, I was having a meal for the nippers birthday and he came in, I asked him for a picture and he replied that he was looking for his kid so couldn't.

He found his kid and about five minutes later he came over and said how about that photograph, TOP bloke !

Mick McCarthy was another tidy bloke.Me and the misses were in the clarion hotel in Dublin a few years back and walked into a bar at the back of the hotel, when a bouncer tried to chuck us out, saying something about a private party.I was just in the process of telling this idiot that i was a resident when mick turned up at the bar and asked what the problem was. It was his leaving party for all his friends and some of the irish players........... .........i made my apologies and said id leave when the misses had come back from the toilet........he laughed and said if there are only two of you sit in and have a beer...........its all free........ :) we filled our boots and had a great night.mick even came over to my misses the following morning and asked her if she had a good night  .

A few years ago I sponsored Aaron Lee-Barrett's home and away kit and my two boys names were featured in the programme as the sponsors.

We went to the sponsors evening to collect the shirts and I remember my eldest asking Gabbidon for his autograph and photo, he told my then 13 yr old lad no as he had already had a photo.

I explained to Gabbidon that it was my youngest son who had had his photo and autograph and after some debate he signed the shirt but in the photo he is pulling away from the shot and a face down to his boots.

Lost a lot of respect for him after that.

I haven't met that many and had a bad experience to be fair. When I was a youngster, my family and I used to watch one Sheffield Wednesday game every year up there. The club really made the fans feel welcome. We got to meet all the players after the game and they all made sure the fans came first. Orlando Trustfull and David Hirst were the best. Jon Newsome, Jim Magilton and Niclas Alexandersson were three class lads as well.

Nowadays, the players live more private lives. I've met Earnie, Gabbidon and Leo Fortune-West. Earnie and Gabbidon were nice enough but Fortune-West was quite cold and not really interested in talking.

It must be hard for players, especially if they're approached in the street or on a night out. You can never tell what day they've had so one day they might act like a c**t but we can all be like that. I just take them as they come with most people. If someone is nice to me, I like them. If not, then it's not my loss to not speak to them again.

The worst I've personally met was Jose Mourinho at the St David's Hotel the night before a Charity Shield game when he was at Chelsea. I've never met anyone more rude and arrogant. He was disgusting.

Thankfully most of the players I've met have been as good as gold. The best was Emlyn Hughes at TGI Fridays when I was 8. He actually pulled up a seat at our family's table for a good 20 minutes and told me all about what it was like to play for Liverpool and Bill Shankley. He also bought my Mum and Dad a drink. What a top guy!

Craig Bellamy has also been great whenever I have met him. Two years ago I took a group of American kids who were on a football tour over here up to the Vale. It was absolutely pissing down but Bellers stayed out talking to them for ages. Nothing was too much trouble for him.

Recently I saw Aaron Ramsey out in Soda Bar, just one hour after Team GB had lost to South Korea in the Olympics. I've always been a huge fan of Rambo and had met him previously but that night he really let himself down. He came across as really up himself and was determined to be seen and heard as he spent a fortune on champagne. Bear in mind his team had just lost to South Korea! He was shameless. When I see him currently struggling for form I do start to wonder if it has all gone to his head a bit.

When he was a kid on holiday he said he met Brian Clough and asked him "will you manage Cardiff City Please" Cloghie replied " young man take your hands out of your pockets when you speak to me !" fair doos I always thought Clough to be class and I still do

Brian Clough was CLASS. Wish todays game had more Cloughies. Chinned two of his own supporters and end up with them apologising and kissing him.

Michael Sheens portrayal of him in The Damned United is absolutely superb. I recomend that film to anyone. Brilliant.

Always see Ramsey in Soda, and the kid is a genuine bell end, so up his own arse. Bellamy is a top man, but can you really meet a nice lad than Whitts? Flys all the boys to Vegas each summer, hero.

I guessed some would include Leighton James. Have those of you who mentioned him ever met him? I bumped into him on holiday in Corfu 1977ish. Very personable bloke. I then got to know him quite well in the season he was player coach at Nuput Kewnty, 1985-86(??). He coached the team I played for at the time for all of that season. Based on that experience I have to say top bloke, pretty much one of the boys type. Never had an issue with him at all. I've met and coached with many pro's and ex-pro's over the last ten years. I'm not going to name the tw*t's but those who've been top blokes include:
Jason Perry
Joey Jones
Mark Walters
Lee Jones
Mike Ford
David Kelly
Laurie Sanchez
John Alridge
Cohen Griffith
Actually what I will say is that some of the biggest twats I've come across are failed footballers who've managed to make it in coaching. Take a look at the Swansea City bench and no names mentioned but you'll see two complete ****'s on there!!

When I met Loovens (outside the ground) he was happy to have a photo with my son.
Even smiled.

Can't say bad many players really, remember either early in the preseason just gone or sometime last season I saw Jon Parkin and another player (can't remember who) it was at the time Parky hadn't played in ages and was on the edge of leaving and I said to him "don't worry Parky, I still love you" and he and whoever he was with had a right laugh about it... At Burnley away last season also remember him sitting at the front of the away stand reading the paper and chatting to fans about 20 mins before the game   .

Also had tickets in the posh seats for Leeds home last season and after the game saw all the players coming out, chatted with Nathan Blake for a while asked him as a joke if he would play at Palace away the following weekend (the one we needed to win to get playoffs) and he laughed and was just generally a nice bloke, Kadeem Harris and Rudy I've chatted to aswell both really nice fella's everyone loves Rudy but Harris really is tidy to talk to.

I was in the Casino once and Rudy came in. I was playing poker and he had never played before he was with his french mate. I made a big fuss of him.

He came and sat next to me and i was "helping him" and we were all having a laugh. He got up and left and played a few machines etc. When he was leaving he was halfway down the stairs, he turned made a bee line for me over the other side of the casino and patted me on the back said "thank you" and then walked all the way back.

Everyone at the Casino calls me "Rudy" whenever we play cards now as I was the only one who gave a shit who he was lol
